On Pope Francis and Prophecy

At the outset, I must be honest and say those of us who hold the Lord Jesus Christ as the One and Only Way to Heaven and God the Father came down hard on Pope Francis, who passed into Eternity on what is termed Easter Monday, April 21.

The reasons for our being against this pope go far beyond our belief that the Catholic Church puts forth false teaching that varies in demonically inspired ways. This particular pope, Jorge Mario Bergoglio, who chose the name Francis upon being elected as Pontiff following the resignation of Pope Benedict in 2013, consistently stated views he held that directly indicated he didn’t understand Jesus Christ to be the One and Only Way to Salvation.

My long-time friend and great Bible Prophecy teacher and broadcaster Dr. David Reagan listed for us this pope’s missing the mark about the Lord Jesus Christ and the Salvation issue.

In May of 2013, Pope Francis said that atheists could go to Heaven “if they lead good and honorable lives.”

In July of 2013, when asked if homosexuals could serve as priests, he replied: “If someone is gay and he searches for the Lord and has good will, who am I to judge?”

In November of 2015, he proclaimed that “Christians and Muslims are brothers and sisters.” In June 2016, Pope Francis issued his first video. In it, he expressed his belief that all the major religions are different paths to the same God. Following this shocking revelation, the video featured persons from different world religions expressing confidence in their various gods. The video then closed with the pope expressing his belief that regardless of religious profession, “we are all children of God.”

In May of 2023, he emphasized “doing good” as the principle that unites all humanity. He added, “The Lord has redeemed all of us, all of us, with the blood of Christ — not just Catholics. Everyone! Even the atheists. Everyone! … We must meet one another doing good.”

In December 2023, he authorized priests to bless same-sex couples.

The apostasy of Pope Francis was reinforced recently when he boldly proclaimed that there are many different roads to God. He made this declaration while speaking in Singapore in September of 2024. Specifically, he said, “There’s only one God, and each of us has a language to arrive at God. Some are Sikh, Muslim, Hindu, Christian, and they are different paths [to God].” Actually, this was nothing new for him. It was simply a more precise definition of what he had proclaimed in his infamous video of June 2016.

The Climax of Catholic Apostasy

These outreaches to world religions, regardless of the gods they worship, have now come to a climax with Pope Francis’ proclamation that all religions are roads to the same God.

This proclamation makes a mockery of the sacrifice of Jesus. It also makes Jesus a liar when He proclaimed, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me” (John 14:6). Further, it is directly contrary to the Apostle Peter’s declaration that “There is salvation in no one else [except Jesus]; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men, by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).

Source: ‘Doctrines of Demons’: Pope Francis Dies As The Most Influential And Dangerous False Teacher, Berean Review, article by Dr. David Reagan, founder of Lamb, Lion Ministry and Christ In Prophecy]

There is undeniable proof from this pope’s own words throughout his papacy, which tells us that he would greatly diminish, or even eliminate, the death, burial, and Resurrection of our Blessed Lord Jesus Christ.

Any other gospel…

Perhaps no other classification of prophetic indicators exhibits more ubiquitous/prolific such end-time signs in this generation than the category “other gospels.” The Scriptures are found back-to-back and are repeated by the Apostle Paul for emphasis.

“But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any [man] preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed” (Gal. 1:8-9).

This specific prophetic warning for the last generation just before Christ’s return is again given by the great apostle and prophet, Paul:

“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables” (2 Tim. 4:3-4).

Satan comes at this generation with a full, frontal assault that no Christian should fail to recognize. Tragically, most do miss the attacks, so wrapped in the entertainment hyperbole of the day are they, their eyes on the glitter and glitz of the Hollywood hucksters of lasciviousness.

Endtime Doctrines and Seducing Spirits

Again, God’s warning through Paul the apostle is clear about the matter. The endtime generation will experience a great increase in false doctrines that seduce the people of that era.

“Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth” (1 Tim. 4:1-3).

Sadly, much of the replacement theology of our time –including that of the Catholic Church– is based in this satanic tripe because of the ignorance of those who hold to the belief that Israel no longer is heir to God’s promises to them. The blasphemy of claiming God would ever renege on an unconditional promise is held as doctrinal truth by major denominations within Christianity today. I believe it is one of the key elements of doctrinal integrity that will one day separate the Philadelphian Church from the Laodicean (read Rev. 3:7-19).

It is incredible that we could come to this point in the perversion of God’s truth. But, here we are, right on schedule in relationship to all other prophetic signs of the times, so far as God’s prophetic Word is concerned.

As disturbing as these blasphemies are, there are others far more troubling, in my view. They are far more troubling because they come, supposedly, from within Christianity. The most egregious examples are the new Bible versions based upon texts other than the authorized.

There isn’t space to go into detail here, but the new “Bibles” that tone down the blood atonement of Christ, His death, burial, and resurrection, or that relegate God to gender-neutral status rather than acknowledging Him in the masculine –that try to present a message that we shouldn’t concern ourselves with things like judgment, punishment, or Hell –that we shouldn’t concern ourselves with Christ’s coming again and the prophetic Word, are not Heaven-sent but hell-spawned.

Let us not be deceived by those who seek to diminish Jesus Christ in any form. Let’s not fall for any other gospel, but be fortified and edified by that once given –the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy (Rev. 19:10). That is essential to understand in this last time.

What is also unfortunate these days is that the Protestant Church no longer has no right to throw stones at Roman Catholicism because it, too, has eagerly accepted the “doctrines of demons” itself.

It, too, widely accepts “multiple paths to God, homosexual behavior even for its clergy, rejection of Scripture as the ultimate authority in determining what is right and wrong, and antisemitism.

Francis was merely a symptom of the terminal disease which has infected most of what passes for the church, regardless of denomination.

This is exactly the lukewarm, neo-Laodicean church the Bible told us would predominate in the last of the Last Days.

Of course, those of us who are biblically literate are certainly dismayed, but we should not be at all surprised.

Correction! I had a double negative in my first sentence: “no longer has no right.”

Should be “no longer has any right.”

As providence would have it, 10 days ago my church held a two-day class on the teachings and beliefs of the false RCC, taught by former Catholic, Mike Gendron. If you don’t know who Mike is, I encourage you to visit his website, proclaimingthegospel dot org. By the way, the Greek Orthodox holds to many of the same views.

This class was an eye-opener; there is no such thing as a Christian Catholic. From top to bottom and front to back, Catholicism is an apostate religion. Christians wouldn’t say Mormons are Christians and we should not pretend Catholics are either. Earnest devotion to a false system doesn’t save, and never will (see Islam if you need more proof.) Catholicism is Satan’s church, his most successful counterfeit, and he is delighted that he’s been able to destroy billions of souls through that system.

The information Mike provides is intended to teach Christians how to witness to Catholics. With his family background as a Catholic from birth, and having an uncle who was a Catholic priest, Mike knows the doctrines of the RCC better than anyone. This verse was shared during class:

“But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any [man] preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed” (Gal. 1:8-9).

Most people do not know that the word catholic literally means of broad or liberal scope; comprehensive, including or concerning all humankind; universal. Sounds like Satan picked the perfect word to name his church! This is not coincidental. I believe, as do many who have studied Catholicism, that the RCC is the church that is foundational to the coming one-world religious system. Francis helped move their organization closer to a universal church than any of his predecessors, and in record time.

It is true that many Catholics have been upset that Francis was an obvious apostate and are holding out hope that they will get a more “orthodox pope” now. What an oxymoron; hoping for a more orthodox heretic to oversee the Church of Satan. BTW, Francis chose 80% of the cardinals currently in the RCC so there is zero chance they will become a truly faithful, Christian religious organization. They never have been, and unless God works some kind of unforseen miracle, they will descend further into apostasy.

We must pray for the Lord Jesus to open the eyes of the lost, who are entrenched in this false belief system. They are so deceived. BTW, one of the 3 mortal sins (as opposed to the category of venal sins, which can be redeemed by confession and then saying the rosary, doing good works, paying indulgences and spending time in purgatory-all superintended by their priests), which are held by Catholics, is missing weekly mass. The other two are murder and adultery. How is that for control and brainwashing?!

    Maranatha, come quickly Lord Jesus.

    • Some interesting subject matter concerning the RCC I wasn’t aware of Robin–good job! All I know is the RCC is a ‘works’ religious system! Not a faith based system holding to the true nature of Jesus’ mission to reach the Lost! Grace By Faith for the Atonement of sin is what all should cling to–its good enough–it is Finished–Amen!!

      • robinlinaz's avatar robinlinaz says:

Thank you. The RCC and Orthodox Eastern Churches are trapped in works based, satanic, belief systems. It is a tragedy.

I listen to Paul Washer and he said in a message I heard a few days ago, that eternal judgment isn’t just coming for the false teachers, it’s already come for those who continue to follow those wolves. Adherence to false religion is a present judgment against people who reject the true gospel and prefer to have their ears tickled.

That was a revelation to me, and it makes perfect sense. Those who profess Christ but don’t follow Him in truth and obedience, are being sorted, and kept away from, the faithful remnant of Believers. Church is for Believers (including the newly saved) where truth must be taught and spoken. Solid food is commanded to be provided to Jesus’s Bride, in order for us to be sanctified.

Of course seekers are welcome, but the unredeemed, non-Believers will never feel comfortable in faithful churches for any length of time.

God is amazing in all of His ways.

    • Ed Wood's avatar Ed Wood says:

      Hi, Robin.

I read over your comments and you are an excellent Christian apologist. I didn’t take statement to jcr12 “There’s much more to support this doctrine, if you want to learn for yourself, and if you don’t, then, lamentably, you are committed to your error over biblical truth,” as rude. It’s a statement of fact, in my view.

There are some people who have just made up their minds and that’s it. It ranges from those who are firmly committed to their denomination to die-hard atheists. Twenty years ago I was slugging it out in the Episcopal Church. You just have to know when it is time to walk away in each case, distasteful as it is.

We are saved by accepting Jesus in spite of the fact that we remain flawed. That’s the whole idea. If we could save ourselves, then Jesus’s death and resurrection would not have been necessary (Romans 3:28; 8:3-4; Galatians 2:16). We are not saved by perfectly keeping God’s rules because only Jesus was capable of doing that.

Much of what passes for organized religion today has departed so far from the Bible that to calling them “churches” is a gross misuse of the term. They have taken full advantage of people’s Scriptural illiteracy even in the fundamentals to ensnare them.

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again – you have a gift!

  4. jchr12's avatar jchr12 says:

For folk not already committed to Jesus, the fact that Satan uses the RCC to confuse ‘even the elect’ would be a confusion too far, incomprehensible for most, and sadly, another reason they would use to keep well clear of all churches & dominions.

For those who know, we are not in the least bit surprised. It reveals the urgency we all should take on board, of the need to reach the lost, but perhaps too those within the RCC who fall for these heresies.

Question: for those deceived and led astray by such talk, have they lost their salvation, or rewards?

If the Irish Priest Malachy is correct, we won’t have to wait much longer.

    • robinlinaz's avatar robinlinaz says:

Hi, those who are truly saved in Christ can never lose their salvation. And if they are truly saved, they will not depart from the faith for any length of time.

1 John 2:19 says “They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us. But they went out, that it might become plain that they all are not of us.”

Loss of, or gain of, rewards is only applicable to true Believers, and only Jesus knows how those are dispensed at the Bema Seat.

      • jchr12's avatar jchr12 says:

Thank you for your reply. My question relates to those who have accepted Jesus, and are ‘truly saved’, but whose lives fall short of following Christ, i.e., all of us !!

Acknowledging the list of vices at 1 Cor. 6, 9-11, Paul states those engaged in such activities, are lost and won’t go to heaven, regardless of accepting Christ. So, in answering my own somewhat rhetorical question, is that those who accept Jesus, but who then fall by way of those vices, can & would lose their salvation.

Ergo, the RCC is partly responsible for those lost souls. Indeed, the Anglican Church who ordain homosexual priests are culpable too. While the individual has ultimate responsibility for their own actions, church leadership will face a stricter judgement.

      • robinlinaz's avatar robinlinaz says:

It is a misunderstanding of scripture to believe that those who are truly saved can lose their salvation. The New Testament is clear that once we are saved, we are sealed by the Holy Spirit and absolutely can not lose our salvation.

Genuine salvation is more than saying a prayer or “making a decision” for Christ; salvation is a sovereign act of God whereby an unregenerate sinner is washed, renewed, and born again by the Holy Spirit (John 3:3, Titus 3:5.) When salvation occurs, God gives the forgiven sinner a new heart and puts a new spirit within him (Ezekiel 36:26.) The Spirit causes the truly saved person to walk in obedience to God’s Word (James 2:26.)

Romans 8:38-39 assures us”For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Paul is speaking of us, the Saved in Christ.

There are many studies available to thoroughly explore the biblical doctrine that promises us that once we, who are members of the Church, are indwelled by the Holy Spirit (regenerated) we can never be un-regenerated.

The angels in Heaven rejoice when even one person is saved. Luke 15:10 Do they have a great celebration and then have to take it back if the saved person commits egregious sins?! Of course not. “Just so, I tell you, there is joy before the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” This verse is speaking of the lost who come to saving faith, not a one time act of contrition, asking for forgiveness of a particular sin. Not even the worst ones listed in 1 Cor 6:9-11.

Note: nothing in the Bible tells someone who loses their salvation how to regain it, because that can not happen. The saved are saved forever. In John 10:28-30, Jesus Himself says 28-“I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them out of My hand. 29-My Father who has given them to Me is greater than all. No one can snatch them out of My Father’s hand. 30-I and the Father are one.”

      • jchr12's avatar jchr12 says:

You raise the question of what constitutes being ‘saved’.

Scripture clearly tells us there are ‘none who are good’. Indeed, we cannot achieve salvation by following the Law, which, of course, is why Jesus came.

We don’t lose our inherent sinfulness by accepting Christ; we continue in our sins washed by Christ.

To follow your explanation suggests that a saved soul would never succumb to those unforgivable vices.

      • robinlinaz's avatar robinlinaz says:

I don’t understand how you can come to any of the conclusions you state.

Of course we don’t lose our sinfulness (please reread my comments, because I didn’t say we did) but through ongoing sanctification of the Holy Spirit, WHO DWELLS IN US IF WE ARE TRULY SAVED, we sin less. 1 John 1:8 among other verses, makes clear “If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.”

We are not without sin until we are glorified. We sin, but if we are saved we can not lose our salvation, as I clearly proved by scripture. There’s much more to support this doctrine, if you want to learn for yourself, and if you don’t, then, lamentably, you are committed to your error over biblical truth.

The forgiveness of our sin is only by the propitiation of Christ and His perfect blood sacrifice on the cross, where all of our sins are forgiven…past, present and future. There are no ‘unforgivable vices.’ They are all covered by Jesus Christ, for those who are saved in Him.

The only unforgivable sin is the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit, which is a whole other issue.

      • jchr12's avatar jchr12 says:

        Please don’t be rude.

I challenge your comments because you contradict yourself & Scripture.

      • robinlinaz's avatar robinlinaz says:

    • SabraCatracha's avatar SabraCatracha says:

I don’t see anything Robin wrote as being rude, just biblically sound, which is often hard to accept for someone’s pride when they are in error.

      • jchr12's avatar jchr12 says:

“… if you don’t [want to learn for yourself], then, lamentably, you are committed to your error over biblical truth.”

I believe that is both rude & arrogant, as well as wholly unnecessary. Indeed, your unsolicited comment, suggesting I’m pridefully in error for challenging a reply that fails to answer the original question, is another example.

Any who cannot debate without becoming personal & insulting, should not engage with others. Try a little common courtesy, which is usually the mark of a Christian.

Excellent article on Francis and the apostasy.

In talking to people, especially come of my Catholic friends, and it is as though they are believing a lie.Which they are. They have become so ensconced in believing what the Pope and the Mother Mary RomanCatholic Church say that they reject even what truth there was in the Catholic Church because the”Pope says so”. Regardless if it is in total contradiction to Catholic doctrine and even the Catholic Bible. They refuse to even consider that Francis was wrong on major Catholic doctrine. They are believing ina lie and because they reject the truth, a delusion has fallen upon them and in my estimation, Godhas given over to their wicked ways. Just my 2 cents worthLord BlessMark

  7. robinlinaz's avatar robinlinaz says:

Thank you Ed, you are such an encourager.

In my defense I was sincerely trying to help answer when he said “Question: for those deceived and led astray by such talk, have they lost their salvation, or rewards?” I wasn’t intentionally being rude or arrogant, however, I was quite surprised when he claimed I’d said things I had not. I didn’t know that his question wasn’t a question at all, but rather a loaded invitation to an argument.

You are so right, a lack of biblical literacy and the desire to search the scriptures is at the root of most the problems in Churches today. It is frustrating.

Meanwhile, we soldier on. God bless you!

    Robin

      God bless!
