A science fiction film of 1956 called Invasion of the Body Snatchers riveted me as a kid of fourteen or so. Sinister, unseen—even unknowable—diabolical entities were taking over the personhood, bodies and all, of earthlings. The protagonist, a physician, was frightened and frustrated as to how to deal with the situation, and was unable for most of the movie to convince those around him that something disastrous was being set up to destroy humanity.
Almost the whole town was replaced by the invaders before…well, you will have to see the movie—I don’t want to spoil it for you.
The storyline was a grand scheme of delusion and deception. You wanted to shout at the big screen for the people to recognize what was going on. You are being set up for falling victim to the body snatchers! But, the course of the storyline could not be changed. It was inevitable that the other-worldly beings would soon take over, as they say, lock, stock, and barrel.
I find the movie and what is happening today in real life to be analogous in several troubling respects. I’ve given this commentary the title “Invasion of the Mind Snatchers” because it has become evident that the thought processes of people of this generation are being set up for the most profound deception ever perpetrated—well, that is, except for the original deception, when the serpent beguiled Eve in the Garden of Eden.
Jesus had told His followers He would be going away from them, but would return. He answered His disciples’ questions about when things He was prophesying would come to pass. They wanted to know when the end of the age would be, and when He would return.
He began His lengthy and in-depth answer with the words: “Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many” (Matthew 24:4–5).
So began what has become known as the Olivet Discourse. This section of Scripture is considered perhaps the most important of all prophecies in the Bible because it is from the mouth of God in the flesh. And, the very first thing Jesus told those disciples—and by way of His recorded words to them that day told us—was that deceivers would mark the very end of the age. Great deception would characterize the time just before He comes back. Jesus forewarned that His disciples must be on high alert for this particular societal condition.
The invasion by the mind snatchers is here. No matter which way we who observe the prophetic picture look, we see the delusion settling upon the thinking processes of men, women, and children. It has completely changed the character of our nation.
In America, it is relatively easy to look back and see that the entertainment industry has been a tool used by the master deceiver to pollute the common sensibility of the people. Hollywood has caused the suspension of disbelief to such an extent that the lines between fiction and fact have been catastrophically blurred. Morality guided by biblical principles has gone by the wayside in our society and culture.
The film industry, for example, has propagandized us to accept that it is okay to sleep around with other than one’s legally sanctioned spouse. As a matter of fact, the very term “sleeping with” is an entertainment industry-spawned term invented to help avoid the stigma attached to the sinful activity of having sex outside the God-ordained union of wedlock.
Deception is the progenitor of delusion—a mental illness that robs one of the ability to discern what is moral and what is not. Values clarification and situational ethics, through incessant inculcation, especially by the political, judicial, and educational progressives (liberals) since the 1960s, have declared that there are no moral absolutes (the Bible is irrelevant). The supreme evidence of how this has deleteriously affected life in the United States is seen in our political process and the results the lack of discernment has produced.
Socioeconomically, geopolitically, and every other way, deception has invaded and taken the minds of humanity farther and farther from God, thus from sanity. No element of this deceptive assault has been more deadly than has the false teachers and preachers of this Laodicean age. Strange winds of doctrine have joined forces with the humanist agenda to blow away every semblance of true spiritual discernment. These satanic psycho-babble concepts have constituted the ingredients for deception that has brought much of society to the point that it is now ready for suffering the great delusion of Bible prophecy yet future.
That prophesied delusion is outlined, of course, in 2 Thessalonians, as the apostle Paul writes:
For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. And then shall that wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness. (2 Thessalonians 2:7–11)
Like disease that causes dementia to progress within the human brain, the deceptive tendrils of willful godlessness are pushing this generation toward the strong delusion prophesied for the Tribulation hour.

Terry, this piece is right on point! I used to respect Dr. Robert Jeffers of First Baptist Church in Dallas. He’d been on Fox numerous times, and his theology was sound. However, he must have tripped, hit his head and has suffered a concussion as he’s backing Donald Trump for President! I could not believe it as Donald Trump has said that he’s never asked God to forgive him as he’s never felt that he needed to ask for forgiveness! Yet, he claims to be a Christian and belongs to the Presbyterian Church, which is among the anti-Semitic denominations. They are in to replacement theology, and BDS or BDC, can’t remember which, LOL!
Something else I started noticing a number of months ago when Jesse Watters would do a piece for the O’Reilly Factor, where he would go out on the street and ask people questions that everyone should know. For example showing a picture of a presidential candidate and ask them if they knew the person’s name. Most of the time, the people were young adults, and their responses showed how badly our colleges have failed so many students in providing them with a good, well-rounded education. I know that you’re unable to watch it, but you would be able to listen to it and your sweet wife could explain what was being shown, and give the approximate age of the person being asked a question
With that horrible terrorist attack in Brussels today, I see things really, really speeding up. Our leaders aren’t smart enough to know that there are probably sleeper cells here, and have been here for a number of years, patiently waiting for the right time to strike. Even nature has been “off” the past couple of years. My late Mother-in-law planted a Camilla bush in 2004 and it didn’t bloom until 2014, but bloomed the next winter, as this is one plant that only blooms in the winter. It was loaded with buds the past 2 years, and only started blooming the first part of this month. It should have been blooming in late November. We’ve not been seeing or hearing the birds that we normally hear when sitting outside. We have wild yaupon and the female plants put on berries that turn red in the late Fall, which the birds feast on. The two that are close to the house, as well as the ones alongside the road that are normally loaded down with berries, didn’t have a single berry on them this winter. Just some things I’ve noticed and perhaps someone else has noticed them also. It’s just like every thing is out-of-kilter, like everything is holding it’s breath.

Amen, I totally agree with you about Robert Jeffrey’s. I liked his sermons on the radio but I decided to take a back seat from him cause I don’t trust what comes out of his mouth anymore. He has truly shown his principles in a article he posted calling us that don’t support Donald trump as fools. I myself am really stuck by all these Christian leaders that support Donald trump and all the filth and ungodliness he represents. May God wake them all up before it is to late. I’m glad and thankful that you see what is happening around us and the same goes for Terry James. May God give you much wisdom in the days ahead.
Who would you have Christians support for POTUS? Pres Trump may have said that at one time. He obviously had a change of heart. Have you forgotten the foundation of Christianity? Forgiveness. There are no perfect humans. Democrats are downright satanic. Trump is a fallible human just like all of us. Go back and read about King David; he did some pretty awful things, but God used him. I believe that God is using Pres Trump.

Such a fitting comparison! The tragic irony is that when that movie came out it was patently ridiculous to think something like that could happen. Now because of the delusion at work, there are multitudes of people who would believe it and in fact many Bible-believing and awake Christians suspect that people will indeed fall prey to a similar once-unthinkable development literally involving aliens. God sure knew what kind of conditions we would face and did everything He could to warn us. But even knowing what He said, I wake up every day and feel this profound sense of having woken up in Bazarro world, where for most people, like the Bible said, what is wrong has become right, and what is right has become wrong, and everything runs counter to logic. I was a hospice nurse and the feeling of helplessness that comes with seeing someone pass beyond the point of no return, never gets any easier to take. I can imagine that even as we remain and continue sounding the alarms, the Lord hears a rising crescendo from His saints, “How much longer, Lord?” I know He hears it from me every day and I get the indication from my own readers that He is hearing it from them too. God help us all to remain vigilantly engaged in the spiritual resistance to this evil until He removes us and the Restrainer. Even knowing what I know, I can hardly begin to fathom what it would be like (and will be like) without that restraint.
What’s really interesting is that the modern version of Body Snatchers with Nicole Kidman has the invasion take place during deep sleep. Those fighting the invasion had to stay awake to stay human and sane. It’s an apt metaphor for the church. We are told to stay sober and vigilant.
