The A B C Questions

We are moving into stranger and stranger times, I sense from consideration of recent developments. Chief among those developments is the most obvious–the election of the candidate thought to have no chance at all just a few months previous. Yet here he is, poised to Make America Great Again–as his presidential campaign slogan would have it.

This being the case, I would ask that you indulge me just a bit, as I would like to construct a scenario or two based as much in biblically prophetic truth as in fictional cogitation.

That America has been forced toward movement into the globalist mold over the past several decades is without question in my view. This has especially been the case during the past eight years of the Obama administration. The nation’s sovereignty has been in process of usurpation by the new world order builders through a series of quasi-legitimate executive orders.

It is more than obvious, to me at least, that the United States was moving along an seemingly unalterable course dictated by the globalists’ agenda. This presidential election didn’t just slow that movement; it halted it in its tracks. The president-elect is an avowed antiglobalist. He views America not as the hegemonic superpower that must be brought down to third-world status, its wealth redistributed in order to create some insanely conceived socialistic Utopia, but as beneficent leader of a world of autonomous nations.

My idea isn’t to sing the praises of the future president. He is merely a man who has been thrust into the end-times picture for God’s own great purpose. My thinking here is to explore and examine a bit the possibilities that purpose might include.

Thus we come to the title of this commentary: “The A B C Questions.”

I watch with great interest the uptick in the world’s fiscal markets as  the wizards of finance contemplate changes taking place in our country. The records being set in the stock markets, etc., move in synchronization with the strangeness of this election. The whole matter, to my way of thinking, generates questions involving Bible prophecy potentiality.

My questions and ruminations follow.

Question A

AMERICA–Is this nation, rather than being on the brink of imploding economically as most prophecy students thought before this election, now about to enter a time of, perhaps, unprecedented financial boom?

Most who have been responsible for making profit within the private sector know and lament that regulations coming out of the current presidential administration have been deadly to business development. Mr. Obama, himself, has boasted that he has “a pen and a phone”–meaning that he could and would bypass Congress to accomplish what he wanted done. This he has done prolifically. His use of his pen and phone have been particularly ruinous to the free enterprise system in this nation.

Increased taxation, added to the regulatory edicts, have resulted in horrendous job losses because of business down-sizings and closings. The nation seemed poised to go much deeper into the economic abyss. The election of Donald J. Trump, a highly successful business mogul, seems to have suddenly turned things around with promises to roll back taxes and regulations and to introduce a plethora of innovations.

The financial markets are apparently buying the promises, and the uptick in the stratospheric of economic anticipation shows it.

All of this just doesn’t fit the thinking of observers of Bible prophecy. Most seem to look for America to succumb to the forces of globalism. And, as stated before, the nation was certainly headed in that direction prior to this election.

So, it is reasonable to ask whether the United States of America might be headed into another great economic boom instead of descending into depression as feared just weeks ago. This conjecture brings forth another most interesting question.

Question B

BABYLON–Could we now be witness to the beginnings of the creation of the prophetic entity termed “Babylon the Great”?

Revelation chapter 18 presents a stunning portrait of the greatest human commercial entity of all of history. This nation and city is prophesied to dominate all the earth with its commerce and debaucheries. Here’s what is said of this city-state called “Babylon the Great”:

For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies. (Revelation 18:3)

This Babylonian system will be destroyed in one hour, God’s Word tells us. It will be a much-deserved judgment. All the world will mourn this destruction.

And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, shall bewail her, and lament for her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning, Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come. And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buyeth their merchandise any more. (Revelation 18:9-11)

Here you will, I hope, indulge my postulations a bit. If this generation is at the very end of he Age of Grace (Church Age) as most who are well-versed in Bible prophecy from the pre-Trib view believe, there is but one entity on the stage of history that could possibly be seen as doing business in such a mighty way as described in this prophecy.

For there to develop from the ground up such a commercial power, it would take decades, not just seven, or even twenty years. America, if there was a massive jinning up of enterprise, could possibly reach such heights of interaction with the rest of the world in a matter of a year or two. There is simply no nation on the planet that has ever been so materially blessed as the USA. There is no other city on planet earth that has the commercial outreach and influence as New York City.

Seeing as how the timeline seems to be a major factor in this prophecy–this destruction of Babylon the Great taking place within the seven-year Tribulation–we can legitimately ask, I think: Is America to develop into that judgment-bound entity?

Perhaps we might get a clue if the optimistic outlook of the current stock market elites plays out as they, at least at this moment, anticipate.

Question C

CHRISTIANITY —Is Christianity about to experience a Great Awakening like in times past?

I have been hearing for years now preachers and others saying that there will be a great revival before the Rapture. Some of those who don’t hold that there is a Rapture coming also say there will be another Great Awakening, as in times past.

I’ve never held that belief, I must say. However, the strange turn of events–with the anti-God forces of the left and the globalists’ ravenous desire to gobble up the United States being suddenly halted–or so it seems–one has to question” why?”.

Could we be about to experience a final outpouring of God’s great mercy in the form of the true church carrying out the Great Commission in a Holy Spirit directed outburst of supernatural witness?

  1. Two things seem to leap out … one is what MEN are saying about the ‘outburst of supernatural witness’ (which would be a welcomed event in my thinking). …. Secondly in my pre-Trib way of thinking is the absence of the ‘supernatural witness’ in the teachings of Jesus himself. Somehow I only hear him talking about how his appearing will only be preceded by the reckless pre-flood mentality and the ‘peace, peace’ song and dance. And all the above underscored by the admonition of Paul to Timothy that evil men shall wax worse and worse. Except for the 144,000 impact on the tribulation period I still can’t find the ‘outburst’. But God could do it without telling us I guess. Either way, The fig tree has budded and this may be more of a reliable indicator than all other indicators. Good article Terry. Blessings to you.

It would sure be great if we got that great awakening, and I think it is possible that we are! Just having the early rumblings of discrimination against Christians in this nation seems to have lit a fire in some to stand firm no matter what the cost. There are ways America could rebound still, and America/Wall Street is the essence and embodiment of Babylon the Great. Trump is probably the most famous, widely recognized example of financial success of the current age. If we were to tap our oil resources, we could pay off the debt, add that to the economic incentives and changes to the tax system Trump proposes, and it seems quite doable! A nation that repents and honors God is prosperous, but a nation that is prosperous also inevitably forgets God again. So, it would be true to pattern if it worked out the way you postulate! We will know soon. Sort of holding my breath until the time Obama actually vacates the people’s house, though! These crazy times we are in can change on a dime.

  4. Earl T Harris Jr says:

I would say the election of Donald J Trump is a certain game changer, and certain prophets have prophesied from 2007 and 2011 that he would be elected. One proclaimed that he would come into office whispering praise, but by the end of his term of eight years, would be shouting God’s praises loud and clear. As for a great awakening, we may already be seeing the beginning with those who are coming out of Islam and into Christ. Thousands are coming to Christ in the persecuted world, but we only have a few spot fires beginning here in the United States. If we are to have a new awakening, it will begin with the youth, just as in the previous three awakenings.

The United States may very well enter into another prosperous time, but the forces of darkness are still hard at work. Many pundits mock the left for doubling down on their agenda by re-electing the same failed leaders and promoting even more radical leftist leaders. Obviously they may know something we don’t. The Left has firm control of the population centers, the schools from kindergarten to university, the media (except talk radio), the movies, banking, the federal and state bureaucracies and the large conglomerates. They control most everything but the House of Representatives, US Senate and soon the Whitehouse.

With that being said, I don’t currently see any other nation other than the United States that identifies as Babylon the Great. It may come down to Russia, China, North Korea, Turkey, and Iran formulating plans for a massive strike against the United States to achieve hegemony in their respective regions. Fortunately for us, only the Lord knows the beginning from the end.

Speaking words To people I cannot even remember what was said, The Holy spirit as I have gone the past 3 weeks just keeps directing my path were To Go I say Here I am and We Go. Overcoming all the debate of this and that way! His way all the Way Is Jesus

  6. Chris Delaney says:

According to scripture in Revelation 17:15 And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.

This passage implies Babylon is responsible for all the abominations of the earth, religiously, politically??? Does not fit USA

6 And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration.

Babylon is drunken with the blood of martyrs. This does not fit the USA

7 ¶ And the angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou marvel? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and ten horns.

Babylon sits on or is carried by a group 10 kings. Does not fit the USA

8 The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.

9 And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth.

Babylon is seated on seven mountains. This does not fit New York or the USA.

10 And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space.
11 And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition.
12 And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.
13 These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast.
14 ¶ These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.

The United States was founded by Christian believers is still one of the major countries in the world for giving out the gospel of Jesus Christ.

15 And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.
16 And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire.
17 For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled.

18 And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.

Now if you want to look at the most likely candidate look at the Vatican for it is the great city that has ruled over the kings of the earth and it is seated on 7 hills. She is an abomination to God’s word in her joining to all the faiths of the world. Even now the Pope is moving world wide to gather all religions into a one world religion. If you had an understanding of the Jesuit order and their work in world governments and our government you would see who is behind the scenes ruling the kings of the earth.

  7. Lorna McLaughlin says:

    Terry,
I also have pondered this…Trump’s election may have two effects, regardless of whether he is successful in the long run, or whether he even gets a chance to proceed. This is purely “cogitation” on my part.
    1) The results of the election may well have the effect of putting the Church back to sleep. During the election cycle nation wide prayer and vigilance was called for and observed. That is over for the most part.
    2) This produces the second effect…on both the church and a large part of the world…”peace and safety” syndrome. Israel has new “friends” now both here and in other nations who have “come alongside” her recently. This relaxation of vigilance is like the watchman on the wall going to sleep.

God is giving us a chance to prove that we want to actually live for him. To prove that we are not like Israel during the time of the judges. We cry out for deliverance and God rescues us. Will the church continue to repent and consecrate herself to the Lord or will she fall back into old habits? I have a feeling I know the answer.

It is God’s people who are on probation here. What they do may well determine how long the Lord tarries.

  8. A.Y. Wilson says:

Perhaps the author should study economics a bit more and Bible prophecy a bit less. 8 years ago our country was in financial dire straights. During the last 8 years our country has built itself back up. While it is true that a Trump presidency could rally corporate America as well as Wallstreet that tends to fall into short term economic projectionism. Babylon? Since the alleged writing of the Bible, how many “Babylons” have come and gone? The US has been the most powerful nation since WW1 and some could argue before even then. Prophecy is a funny thing. It tends to only prove correct long after events have taken place and the details are trimmed to fit. Your entire article feels like a poetic way to applaud the future of which we know nothing. Cheers were heard all around singing the praise of Trump after he saved 1000 jobs at Carrier. But nobody flinched at the cost or the other 1400 jobs still being sent elsewhere. Your article seems a lot like those cheering people. Lastly, of course there is a revival of Christianity going on. People have been lied to and told that they should be afraid. Nothing grows a church or faith like fear. Even before the Monotheistic religions came to be this was so. Don’t make Zeus mad or your crops won’t grow and such nonsense. The public seems to believe that the Muslims are coming! They’re gonna take our guns and make us worship Allah! Obama ruined our country! These are not true. The Muslims came roughly 500 years after Christianity and you are all still around. Obama didn’t cause the housing bubble crisis. People like Trump and several of his cronies made a lot of money from it though. Full disclosure, I’m an Atheist but geez the Bible is a big book and it’s not all bad doom and destruction. Put down the scary prophecis and enjoy life. The end has been coming since before Jesus so calm down and stop wishing for an end.

  9. Gary says:

Chris Delaney is correct. I have studied scripture for years and America does not fit the mold for Babylon. She has not persecuted the saints as described in Revelation. This will fit the future coalition of the antichrist Government with the coalition of liberal churches including the Catholic Church. The Catholic Church fits the bill of persecuting the saints. Study history!

  10. Dennis Whelan says:

Terry, I really enjoyed your musings, especially your comments before your ABC questions. My own thoughts are that there will be a little success for a period of time with President Trump in charge, but then Satans world system will regroup and bring this progress to a halt. After this the world will continue preparing the way for the ascent of that man of sin, the Anti-Christ. Along the way the Church will be Raptured and that will be the final blow to this once great country of ours. We were so blessed, then in our wisdom we decided we did not need God anymore. Once the Church is gone the USA will not be a factor of any kind. Then Gods focus will go back on the Jews and the horrible Tribulation will begin. Maranatha

Dennis, how much time do you think we have? I know no one knows the day or hour, but just wondering if you think we have more time since Trump will be president? Thanks and God bless!

      • Dennis Whelan says:

Claire, Thanks for responding. As you say, no one knows the day or the hour but scripture does say we can know the time is near, even at the door. When you look at the middle east and the allignments forming there near Israels northern border. The alliance of Russia, Iran and Turkey I believe are the principle players in Ez, 38,39 Gog and Magog war. I could be wrong but I don’t think that alliance has ever existed before. Consequently I do believe the time is very near. As to Mr. Trumps election, somewhat of a miracle, I obviously believe that Gods hand was in that. I wish I knew His purpose, but I do know it is perfect.
