Saving the World

My practice each week before beginning to think seriously on the next week’s commentary for this column is to pray for guidance from on high.

This week, an idea of what the topic should be came almost instantly upon my beginning to think on the matter. Next, within less than an hour into the process, came a message through email that validated beyond any doubt that the topic was chosen from above.

The email was from a regular family member of our website, raptureready.com. Her words were verification that the thought for the message to be delivered wasn’t mine, but from the One who sent that first Christmas message announcing the Savior’s arrival two millennia ago. I quickly dashed off an email-note thanking her.

I again thank her here and will include some of her words from her most timely cyber message to me.

As many who read these commentaries will know, my articles of late have involved the lead-up to and reporting of presidential election 2016. I view that election, I think I made clear, as being intervention by the Lord–and this for several reasons.

His intervention was to, I believe, answer the prayers of His people who are called by His name, in accordance with 2 Chronicles 7: 14. His response was to begin to turn around the quick slide into the abyss of total moral decay. His action was to stop this nation’s almost certain march to globalism, which, I’m convinced, the losing candidate would have put on an even faster track than America was on, should she have been elected president.

I likened the intervention in the matter of globalism to God’s erecting a wall even more profound than the wall the president-elect has promised to put along America’s southern border. For now, at least, America, apparently, will have a wall of sorts–a return to the constitutional concept of sovereignty and nationhood intended by the founding fathers.

That constitutional concept was formed by Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Franklin, and all the rest, based upon their strong belief in adherence to Judeo-Christian principles found in the Bible. This, the new world order architects cannot abide. Religion, they rant, is the bane of progressive thought and action. These most often champion the Utopian dream fostered by Karl Marx, who wrote: “Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people.”

The globalists elite who hate religion and despise Christianity in particular see Communism as the route to Utopia. If only they could have their blueprint for their version of socialism put fully into production, they would create heaven on earth. These have come to embrace fanatically their own version of religion. It is called “environmentalism.”

They were, until recently, calling it global warming. The scientific sophistry behind their claim came to light through exposure to the facts, so they changed the core of their religion to “climate change.”

These are of the save-the-earth cult which holds that man is destroying Mother Earth. Therefore, the globalists elite–the high priests of their religion–must see to it that all nations, all peoples, must be brought under their regulation–else we will all drown beneath the overflowing oceans because of icecap melting, etc. Greenhouse gases and carbon emissions and all of that are produced by evil Western mankind in particular and must be governed. They–the global elitists–of course, are the only ones who can thus save the world.

Pope Francis and some within the Catholic Church have wholeheartedly joined this save-the-earth cult to add their version of religious input. The following excerpted article explains:

Catholic Online reports that new priests will be expected to be familiar with and promote efforts to reduce carbon emissions…

The Church has a responsibility to care for people, and the environment. And care for one is also care for the other…

The new guidelines suggest that in the future, priests will also have a good grasp of the global climate change problem and will share this with their congregation…

It must be said that some committed and prayerful Christians, with the excuse of realism and pragmatism, tend to ridicule expressions of concern for the environment. Others are passive; they choose not to change their habits and thus become inconsistent. So what they all need is an ‘ecological conversion’, whereby the effects of their encounter with Jesus Christ become evidence in their relationship with the world around them. Living our vocation to be protectors of God’s handiwork is essential to a life of virtue; it is not an optional or a secondary aspect of our Christian experience. Therefore, it will be necessary for future priests to be highly sensitive to this theme and, through the requisite Magisterial and theological guidance, helped to “acknowledge the appeal, immensity and urgency of the challenge we face. (Source: Catholic Church: New Priests Will be Expected to Preach Global Warming, Guest essay by Eric Worrall, http://www.clerus.va/content/dam/clerus/Ratio%20Fundamentalis/The%20Gift%20of%20the%20Priestly%20Vocation.pdf)

There has been little reaching out by this pope since he replaced Pope Benedict to proclaim that conversion must be made to belief in Jesus Christ in order to save the souls of people of earth. But the cry at present goes out in every direction that conversion to the dogma of ecological sophistry must be instituted and enforced to save all people everywhere.

With regard to the Luciferian religion called climate change, the words of my emailer say it plainly.

“No matter how much humans try to ‘improve’ on God’s plans, He has the last say. He allows us to experiment but then, rightly shows us that His way is the best way. No matter how much humans try to wreck Planet Earth, God always has the upper (and healing) hand.

The world belongs to God. His Creation. Wonderfully and perfectly made. There is no way He is going to allow some spiritually backward, egocentric lunatic, [to] ruin what He set up. For the RC [Roman Catholic] church to actually believe that they will influence or make a difference to what is happening to planet earth is spiritual ignorance of the highest order. They are implying that action from man can fix stuff. That they (the RC church) are running things. Astonishing!”

Let me be clear in saying that I’m fully aware and agree that we are expected, as Christians, to be good stewards of the earth. However, we are not to worship the earth and make that worship the means of our salvation.

It is the reverse of the true Christmas story. Globalism preaches that it is up to man to save himself by saving the planet.

Like Lucifer told Eve, we are destined to become our own gods. We are to save the world, totally apart from any deity, except, of course, for the gods–he elite–of the globalist agenda.

But the truth of the Christmas story simply, powerfully and wonderfully tells all who will listen–and believe.

“For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved” (John 3:17).

I so look forward to your articles, Terry. When I get sucked into this crazy upside down world in my thinking, along comes another article to help me “see” WHO is in control. Love your heart for the Lord and the truth of His word.

Dear Terry… Thank you so much for getting the word out. I have been eagerly reading the Rapture Ready website and in particular look forward to your articles posted every Monday. I feel the storm clouds gathering steadily. As you suggested, I pray often for President Trump and for our Country. If we are not raptured by the next election and the evil ones take over I fear for us all. So I study the Word and pray and witness as I can. All we can do is trust in the Savior of our souls, the Lord Jesus Christ. God bless you and thank you for your encouragement and your insights. It would truly be a miracle if we can keep a pro-Christian and pro-Israel President in the White House for another term. I am heart broken as to how far and fast the evil tide is invading the USA. I am just an ordinary person, but I wanted you to know you are heard, and appreciated. Thank you so much. God bless you.

This message is spot on Brother Terry. I feel strong and have full faith in God’s sovereignty over what’s happening and then I see something else where black is called white and vice versa and I want justice now (impatient) and get outraged. I’ve decided that observing the lies, injustice, and lawlessness is part of the tribulations that believers must endure. You are a great help Brother Terry in helping us all to abide. The best is yet to come. Maranatha Lord Jesus!!

  5. Ed Wood says:

Better than manufacturing a fake crisis to further one’s own ends is to exploit a real one. Now I know a lot of good, faithful people think that climate change is not the “real deal.”

    I respectfully disagree.

The fact is that the carbon dioxide concentration in Earth’s atmosphere is presently over 400 parts per million – a level which has not existed for hundreds of thousand of years. It is also a fact that CO2 is a greenhouse gas, allowing visible light from the sun to pass through our atmosphere, but blocking the re-radiated heat (infra red) from the ground from getting back out into space. Now a little greenhouse effect is a good thing – prevents Earth from turning into a ice world. Too much produces a planet like Venus which has a surface temperature of around 800 degrees Fahrenheit.

Now one could argue as to the whether the main source of the rise of CO2 is from natural or man-made causes, but, like it or not, it is with us today. I personally believe that even if human activity is not the primary cause, it is a significant one. Now if this is true, since we do not know when the Rapture and last years of history as we know it will be upon us, looking for a way to mitigate this problem seems the logical way to go.

That being said, I do strongly oppose this matter being used as an excuse to promote any activity which promotes globalism by enacting regulations that infringe on national sovereignty, which I think is the case today.

There is one solution which never seems to be put on the table which would would reduce human production of CO2 to fractional levels – controlled nuclear fusion. It is the process by which stars like our sun produce their energy. The physics of the process has been well known for a century.

My big question is: Why has there not been a concerted push to move a practical fusion reaction system from theory to reality by the world scientific community? Could it be that by making each country energy-independent, the globalists would lose one of their tools to bring us all under control.

    What do you think?

    • Glenn B says:

I respectfully disagree Brother Wood. “Science” says that climate change is man-made. FALSE. They should say SOME scientists claim this and that some scientists claim otherwise. Don’t allow the godless liberals to get away with saying “SCIENCE” says this as if it settled final truth. As an engineer, I saw science theories constantly being revised during my career. When scientists’ theories contradict the infallible truth of the Bible, the scientific theory must be rejected. “He Who appoints the sun to shine by day, who decrees the moon and stars to shine by night, Who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar–the Lord Almighty is His Name; Only if these ordinances vanish from My sight,” declares the Lord, “will the descendants of Israel ever cease to be a nation before Me.” (Jeremiah 31:35-36). 125. Man has NO control over the climate. The climate we see is “normal” and exactly how God has ordained it. This attempt by feeble man to control something normal by spending trillions of dollars is economic suicide. This affects everyone in a negative way on the planet; no money to spend to adjust to climate change reality. God is sovereign over ALL things. How much damage have liberals done to America by wanting nothing to do with God in their thinking? I can just as easily says “Science” says man-made climate change is false. • Ed Wood says:

        Hello Glenn.

Thanks for your thoughtful response and the time you obviously spent in making it. You’ll note in my comment that I said that one can rightly debate as to the primary culprit of the rising CO2 levels is natural or man-made sources. I am keeping an open mind on this, despite the fact that most scientists believe most of this is our fault. Nevertheless, I do believe these CO2 levels are at an all-time high and if we can do something to reduce our contribution to the problem, then I think we should.

There is a PDF file here you may find interesting:

        https://scholars.unh.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?referer=&httpsredir=1&article=1118&context=carsey

Consider that by burning the amount of fossil fuels that we do, we are moving a considerable amount of Earth’s carbon supply from under the ground up into the air in the form of carbon dioxide – which does inhibit the ability of heat to escape back into space.

Controlled hydrogen fusion, as I also mentioned, would go far toward reducing our human contribution. You’ll also note that I absolutely do not agree with this being used an excuse to promote globalism when I believe the the remedy I just mentioned is achievable if the resources, and yes, the will, was available. Why this hasn’t happened is a major cause of suspicion for me and suggests other motives are at work here, none of them good. Believe me, I don’t trust the globalists any more than I suspect you do.

Now I do disagree that we have no control over our climate because there are an awful of of us burning an awful amount of petroleum. I just don’t see how we aren’t part of the problem as some level, even if we aren’t the primary causers and the rise coincides closely with the Industrial Revolution. See https://www.acs.org/content/acs/en/climatescience/greenhousegases/industrialrevolution.html

So, my friend, I do respect your point of view. I just have a different one so I guess we’ll just have to agree to disagree.

I think we can agree that, ultimately, God is indeed in charge!

        God bless!

        Ed W.

      • Glenn B. says:

Very good points Brother Wood. You know your stuff much better than I do. I only know enough to say it’s not settled science as the MSM would have us believe. You could very well be correct. My point (at least in my mind) is that I would not take that economic risk. There is climate change undoubtedly but I know scientists who say there has always been climate changes (what happened to the glaciers?). Doing away with using fossil fuels will destroy the economy.
We agree on the most important part by far sir. God is sovereign and Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior. Maranatha Lord Jesus!!!
Have a blessed day Ed!! Enjoyed the exchange of views.
PS: As a Petroleum Engineer (retired now), you would not believe how I have been accused with hate of contributing to climate change. The petroleum industry played a part in raising everybody’s standard of living. I’ve always considered oil/gas reserves in America a blessing from God. 🙂

      • Ed Wood says:

        Hello again!

You are absolutely correct in that Earth has always experienced climate change. There have been at least four ice ages and alternating inter-glacial times. There is probably no single reason, but the eccentricity and even the tilt of Earth’s axis plays a major role. One of the difference between those times and what we see now is that those changes are on the order of thousands of years. The changes happening now are much more rapid, in the order of only decades. There must be some new factor now that was not present in the past – and we could be it!

I have very much enjoyed our discourse and your gracious approach. Believe me, this is not always the case with people who have different points of view.

Personally, I don’t think we’ll be around for the worst a warming climate can do to this planet. Believers will soon be gone in the Rapture and, after the Tribulation, those left behind who survived this awful time will be dealt with by Jesus, one way or another. With the rapidly increasing tensions in the world, I don’t see how long we can go on as we have before we would have a collapse of civilization and the technology which is involved in running it today. From what we know about prophecy, I very much believe civilization must be intact enough to have sufficient technology to allow the coming 666 economic system to exist and to permit the massing of 200 million troops for Armageddon, for example.

So, my friend, I’m sure you’ll be watching the signs and looking up, just as I’ve been doing!

        God bless.

        Ed W.

      • Glenn B says:

Brother Wood, you know the subject (climate change) very well. That’s very clear. When I wake up in the morning, my first thought is “today the day” for the Rapture? I’m astonished how a lid has been able to stop all out anarchy and war. The Lord has decided it’s not time yet but like you surely it has to be very soon. I’m ready. It’s hard for me to “abide” until He does. Nothing bothers me more than lawlessness. It’s in our face daily now and allowed to continue. I think it should bother believers. I literally groan every day watching the news. The following verse keeps coming to my to me. 544) Pro 29:2 “As the righteous grow powerful, people rejoice; but when the wicked rule, people GROAN”. Like all scripture, that is so true.

      • Ed Wood says:

Yes, sir, I have the many of the same thoughts. Even though I know things must be this way, it is hard to watch. I truly believe that we won’t have to do this much longer and there is consolation in that.

Perhaps the saddest part of all is that the human race has brought our present distress and the worst which is to come upon itself due to its own arrogance.

I sometimes imagine what might have happened if Jesus had been accepted at his First Advent. Of course, you and I probably would not have even come to exist since the course of 2000 years of history would have been totally different. The Eternal Age which will follow the Millennium would have begun 1000 years ago.

The thing is, we are here and will get to experience both thanks to what Jesus did for us at the ultimate cost to himself.

        Thank God!

        God bless.

        Ed W.

Thank you for your article today. It says what needs to be said. I have always felt that The Church is about saving souls, growing souls, and helping one another. If the Church begins, as many have, to reach out in other directions it ceases being what God intended. Preaching (from the pulpit) about saving the planet is giving the enemy a foothold in that particular congregation. It draws the people away from Christ. I think the true follower of Christ will automatically do what is right in and for the world. But he knows that this world is temporary, and Christ is eternal.

Just read the article “Saving the World” written by Terry James and reviewed some comments addressed to his article. Simply stated: Im blessed to see that Terry has pointed out to the readers that God The Father of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is and always will be in total control as to what happens in life and not mankind. We all should eagerly wait for God to commission his Son to swoop down from Heaven and snatch us up from this pathetic world and finally bring us back to where we ought to be. OMG!!! COME LORD JESUS. With the love of God in the renewed mind of Jesus Christ……brother Lawrence from Staten Island, NY……..Can i get an AMEN
