“This is going to be a very dark winter.” That quote made by presidential candidate Joe Biden during a debate both expressed and set the nation’s mood for the beginning of 2021 and beyond.
He made the comment later, for a second time, while staring into the camera somberly while fully masked. It seemed more than a political utterance that was meant to shape the electorate’s desire for someone prepared to deal effectively with COVID-19.
By the time Biden made the comment, the national mood was already one of dark expectations. Mr. Biden’s party, aided and assisted by its propaganda arm—the mainstream media, both news and entertainment, and the social media, anti-free speech giants—had already brought the American people to a point of fear and frustration. They had divided us right down the middle, setting in motion movement along the track of civil war.
The China/deep-state/leftist-manufactured coronavirus pandemic had done its work. People were, and continue to be, huddling in trepidation and willing to go along with globalist demands, both current and future.
Little thought or worry were or are now forthcoming from fully one-half of America’s citizenry concerning the very real possibility that the nation faces at the very least European-style socialism. More and more for the other half, there is growing realization that we might be facing something far worse: not just socialism, but complete lockdown of Orwellian proportions by anti-constitutionalists and anti-God forces intent on completely shutting down liberties written into our founding documents.
Everywhere we look, we see mounting evidence that people have already been cowered into that dystopian corner portrayed in the novel 1984. Everyday life is being swallowed up by the onrush of building stage-setting for Antichrist’s regime of complete control as presented in Revelation chapter 13.
A long-time friend of the Rapture Ready website recently wrote an email that personifies the state of that future society we already face. The personal snapshot of the experience would be humorous if not so serious in its evil portent.
In part, our friend said the following.
I went for a ride this morning, I wake up feeling so bad, I thought a ride and fresh air would help. I got out of the car at a park, took deep breaths, I felt a little better. Then I walked to a nearby pet store to pick up my cat food.
We have to stay outside the store, I stood over a foot away from the door, there was a desk blocking the way to the store and the clerk came over. I was outside in the open, more than 2 feet away from the clerk and the first thing he told me that my mask is not properly covering my nose and to fix it.
I fixed my mask, got the bag and left agitated by his behavior, I went to another store, dropped stuff out of agitation, I picked them and left the store quickly after only getting the stuff I needed most.
I called the store to talk to a manager, I knew what the outcome would be, yet I still picked up the phone and the manager went on about how people have to wear their masks properly.
I kept telling her that I was outside the store, nowhere near the clerk, and he should at least say “Hi” something,……………not the first thing I hear is to adjust my mask.
She went on a rant about our responsibility to protect each other and when I told her I was outside the building a good distance from that guy, she said: “common sense is that people have to make sure their masks are on properly before approaching a store.”
I felt my blood starting to boil, I said: So now, I don’t have common sense?
Anyway, I told the manager, it is nice for the employees to at least say “hi” to a person and not start by asking them to adjust their mask.
She said: is that what you want, I said “yes”, she said ok next time we will say Hi before we ask someone to adjust their mask.
I was so agitated. I shouted out to God about how much longer are we going to put up with this world…”
Actually, I can relate to the experience. While visiting my dermatologist for a check-up, my wife was helping me with a face mask. (I wear one only when absolutely required to do so. Therefore, I’m quite inept.)
A woman was quite agitated nearby. So much so that she began instructing, with irritation in her voice, how my mask should be placed. She then rushed from the room, we figure, because my adjustment was too slowly accomplished.
I, of course, laughed heartily, but Margaret was quite irritated with the lady’s ill-tempered attempt to make sure we did it right.
It was a lesson to me of how people are being turned into proverbial lemmings in preparation for implementing the “new normal” with which the Re-setters want us to comply.
But the foregoing experiences are whimsical compared to what is coming. The supposed winners of the just-concluded presidential election are vowing to come down hard on anyone and everyone who supported the other candidate in any way. They have the most powerful, anti-God forces in the world—plus the minions in high places of Ephesians 6:12 on their side.
Looking at all the troubling things going on in that way makes it seem to not bode well, especially for Christians who oppose the policies and movements that are blatantly against God’s Word.
However, we are instructed by that very Word to trust in the Lord with all our heart (Proverbs 3:5-6). After Paul’s marvelous promise of Christ’s call to us, in 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, the apostle writes further in the following chapter:
“For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him. Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.” (1 Thessalonians 5:9–11)
We are to take comfort as we see that moment approaching. And one doesn’t have to be a prophet to see that the signs of His coming are converging even now.
To be honest the post wasn’t very comforting. Kind of went on and on about the darkness. Perhaps you should have started with scripture passage and talked more about comfort and encouragement.
This is spiritual. We battle not against flesh and blood but against…the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places (Eph 6). When unbelievers act like unbelievers its like we expect something different from them. They are controlled by unseen forces. They literally can’t help it because of their unbelief, spiritual blindness and demonically energized deception. All of history has led up to this moment. Its our turn as God’s people in our day. Arise and shine. Its time to be the light of the world.
You know, it is up to us as individuals to be built up in the Lord. If we seek Him every day, all day, articles like this, which simply state truth, can do nothing to steal your joy or discourage you. Your comfort should come from the Lord, His presence, His Word.
Oh boy am I ever glad I do not know you. Do you know what, it is the Holy Spirit within you (if you are a disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth) Who is there to comfort you not Terry James!
What a curmudgeonly response. If you do not like what you are reading then I suggest you do not read it and stick your head back in the sand. And don’t expect the vast majority who have put their faith/trust/belief in Jesus to have any sympathy for those whom, you say, “cannot help it”! I can assure you that up until anybody reaches Romans 1:28 every person still has a conscience which has not been fully seared, a conscience which is part of our warp and woof designed by God, Of course after that verse is another matter entirely but, even then, I do not intend to feel sorry for people who have CHOSEN to follow ‘another gospel’.
I have been involved with the deliverance ministry now and again and I can assure you from my experience and from what I have read in the Bible (which I have been reading from cover to cover ion a regular basis for the last 45+ years) there is not one person who is so fully possessed by a demon who cannot ‘help’ what they are doing.
Personally I really appreciated Terry’s article because it is telling it like it is, which, amazingly, is what we see in the Bible – that too tells it like it is, not one of its heroes, apart from Jesus, is without sin and fault and I thank God for that because it gives us all HOPE which is what Terry gave us right at the end!
Normally I would not write publicly like this but I decided that, as your comment was written publicly, I would do the same.
Taking a step back, I find this all very exciting. Biblical prophecy that I’ve waited 30 years to see is lining up like a planetary conjunction before our eyes. It used to be once a year that something Biblically significant would happen. Perhaps it would take the form of creation groaning on a global scale such as it did with the 2004 Tsunami, and then again with the 2011 Japan triple disaster. Or sometimes it would be the chess pieces of nations lining up as foretold by the prophets, such as alliances forming between the Ezekiel 38 countries. Now prophetically significant events are happening on an almost weekly basis! Jesus gave the perfect analogy when he used the illustration of labor pains. Increasing frequency and building intensity. This is exactly what we are seeing. Man alive, our Lord must be really very close now!
I agree with Terry that unbelievers are acting less and less like the unbelievers they were prior to Covid and the election. The common courtesy we were used to even from unbelievers has often vanished. We are frustrated at the change, and even though we realize our battle is not with flesh and blood, we have not yet accommodated to this new level of darkness. Our spiritual eyes are still adjusting, as in a dark theater.
(I know every day, I ask the Lord, “How far are you going to let this go Lord? Are you going to let mankind forge ahead into transhumanism and change what it is to be human? I thought changing marriage and proclaiming more than two genders, which never occurred before in history, was the limit. None of this will stop me from spreading the Gospel and love of Jesus, but to my fellow believers, I will admit my frustrations–and comfort myself and other believers with the Blessed Hope.)
Thank you so much Terry for what must have been a difficult post to write, my heart goes out to you. It was good to read of somebody else’s experience. Admittedly we live thousands of miles away and so, up until now, we have been able to wear a face shield but, then, only if we absolutely have to! We get the odd stare but nobody has said anything yet.
By the way as my husband’s phone rang the other day he just ‘knew’ who was ringing before he even looked and right away he was in prayer looking to the Lord to give him the words to say, which God did, hallelujah! It was, as he suspected, the doctor’s surgery – would we care to come in for the vaccine? – my husband’s reply: “Not at this moment, thank you!”
Even now, after walking with the Lord for over 45 years I still find it absolutely amazing when He does exactly what He promises He will do, which has built up my faith tremendously. God is soooooo good and I thank Him for people like you too!
Jesus said:
“And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.” (John {3:19-21})
This is the most brilliant and concise explanation of why this world is the way it is, in my opinion. Adam and Eve chose to let darkness into our universe and from then on every human being has had to make his or her own decision over light and darkness ever since.
I don’t need to tell anyone that the latter is certainly winning, just as Terry’s commentary above correctly demonstrates. He also honestly tells us that it is going to get worse and I appreciate the frankness.
The reassurance comes at the end of the article, just as the guarantee that those who believe won’t be here for the worst of it. Until then, we have to hang tough and NOT let that rapidly growing darkness overcome us.
We should remember that we are not alone in this battle but that God is always with us and that we are on the winning side because of that.
Thanks, Terry, for telling it like it is, as always!
Good message Terry.
Your focus on what the powers of darkness have on their side is the deciding factor for me to no longer accept your posts. You would do well to focus on heavens armies rather than the power of those we face.

Odd. Based on your comment, it appears that we didn’t quite read the same post, LOL. I didn’t really see Terry focusing on the powers of darkness, especially in the conclusion of his post. Your point is nonetheless important – we should always look toward Christ, just as Peter should have when he walked on water during the storm.
Thank God that Paul did not have such a myopic view but ensured that the churches he taught were well aware of the strategies of the evil one, often times you will see him being concerned that they do not remain in ignorance. If we do not know something of what we are likely to face in this spiritual battle, in the days to come, the enemy will be able to pick us off one by one. Naturally as you find it too hard to take I think that rather than tell Terry James off in that way, you would be better continuing to partake of the milk of the word, you are obviously not yet ready for the meat.
I doubt that any of us will miss you and we will certainly not miss your arrogance.
PS You obviously did not read his encouraging words at the end, you had made a decision so you ceased immediately. Are you aware of how ripe you are to be picked off with that attitude to your brother in Christ?
Julia,
Where is your love for Christ and sinners? Where is your humility, where is your Godliness? Did you forget that the first commandment is love and to love everyone same as you love yourself regardless of how they behave? If God send rain and sun on sinner every day, how much more you have to love?
Lest we forget that without peace and holiness, no man shall see the lord. Seek peace and not anger. God is not slack concerning his promises.
Last time I looked it was in my heart – where’s yours? As for my humility and godliness all I will say in response to that is that I am not as I was, I am not as I will be but God continues to enable me to become more and more like His Son one day at a time.
I am at a loss as to the couple of scriptures you quote at the end which do not seem to bear any relationship to the topic, but, Hey, I do hope you feel better after your little rant and I do thank you as I am getting back to God on these issues, it is never good to assume one has ‘made it yet’ is it?
PS I also suggest you read the last paragraph of that which I wrote to Sepiekarz as it occurs to me that it is very pertinent to you too. Mind you the very best thing you could do is read the Bible, particularly the epistles, as it is obvious you are totally unaware of how Paul, Peter, John and James addressed people who had gotten things wrong. I do try to model what I write in their styles. I am sure I fail many times but there you go. May the Lord bless you and keep you, may he make His face to shine upon you, may He lift up the light of his countenance to you and give you His peace. XX
WE are part of heaven’s armies on Earth and I believe we will accompany Jesus during his Second Coming at the end of the Tribulation. It is important that we know the magnitude and tactics of the enemy that were are facing – and also that “greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.” (1John 4:4)
I think Terry conveyed this message very well.
Amen. Thank you.
We need to remember: we are not of this world. This present darkness makes the light of Christ just that much brighter. Be the light….and especially love one another. Satan loves to divide us. God told us that all of this would happen. What a comfort to His children! But as I look around I feel an intense need to proclaim Christ before the door closes, before He call us up as His bride.
For years I have read of the persecution in other parts of the world and wondered if I would be as brave as they. I think I’m about to find out. So far it’s been only annoyance at the lemmings and the dictators.
I’m with you brother. Indeed – I, too, think we are about to find out. The Rapture might rescue us early, but I’m not counting on it. I think we’re about to get a taste of what our brothers and sisters in other nations have experienced. I shudder to think of us becoming like North Korea – but it is a definite possibility.
No matter when He said them Jesus has already told us how He will not lete anything come to us which He has not been through and He will give us the words to say – which He did for my husband when we were offered the vaccine the other day. Also remember those many Christians in the orange jumpsuits who were beheaded by ISIS on the Mediterranean coast, they were all singing praises to God as it happened. I do believe God will indeed give us what we need BUT it will be WHEN we need it, not before.
I suppose there is a special welcome for those who suffer the most terrible and vile persecutions. I recall Stephen in Acts – Jesus actually stood to welcome him. Now THAT’s a welcome when the author of the Universe does that!
Terry, love the article. Our time as Christians to be the salt and light is now. We must understand that the gateway to end time prophecy is wide open. We must not focus on “our” biblical interpretations, using the power of God’s word to strengthen us instead.
We will suffer for Christ’s sake. Not to say we roll over and play dead, but this world is on its final legs. We must focus on the lost.
I am excited because we are soon to be with our Savior. Our blessed hope.
It hurts to see the wicked winning battle after battle, but we will win this war. The darkness will NOT eclipse the light. God will listen, but we need to pray like never before!
God bless all who trust in Jesus.
Tribulation is looming BUT before that Day we go UP. Soon and very soon. Amen.
«9 When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God and the testimony they had maintained. 10 They called out in a loud voice, “How long, Sovereign Lord, holy and true, until you judge the inhabitants of the earth and avenge our blood?” 11 Then each of them was given a white robe, and they were told to wait a little longer, until the full number of their fellow servants, their brothers and sisters, were killed just as they had been.»
Revelation 6:9-11
If that had been my experience I would have told the person that I am outside and you don’t tell me how to wear my mask. I would have also said I don’t need to do business here and walked away! The more we comply, the more control there is going to be, people. If millions of people refuse to comply, what could they do about it?
