A movie based on a Stephen King novel was about a man who lived in a New England town as a nine-year-old. The town was called Jerusalem and was dubbed Salem by the townspeople for whatever reason. The novel’s title was Salem’s Lot.
The novel and movie were about a town filled with evil. Vampires had moved into Salem and were beginning to take over through various demonic actions when the man, as an adult, came home to live there.
King’s idea likely came from the Bible story of Sodom. The Bible, of course, says that in spiritual terms, Jerusalem is as Sodom and Egypt.
And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified. (Revelation 11:8)
While I thought it was a scary movie, my honorary daughter, Jeanie, made fun of me, laughing at me that a grown man could be scared by such a nothing film. I’ll let you judge for yourself if it was scary or not.
One thing is sure: We are living in times like those of Sodom. We are in the middle of Sodom’s lot, in that there are those who, like those surrounding Lot, surround the majority of us, even though their numbers at present are in the minority.
Lot and his family, of course, were surrounded by perhaps the most debauched society and culture of any community to exist on the earth. Well…probably not the only of such wickedness, but certainly among the most wicked since the pre-Flood society and culture.
We have gone over in these commentaries the developments that have taken place over the weeks, months, and years—probably over the decades. The homosexual agenda has grown and built into a movement that now has taken over the American culture while other cultures considered among the most anti-God have rejected this movement. I give you, for example, the following item.
Russian lawmakers are considering a new law targeting “LGBT propaganda.” It would provide for fines of up to $160,000 for promoting non-traditional sexual relations. The draft legislation was submitted to Russia’s state Duma on Tuesday and is currently being reviewed by the state building and legislation committee.
It proposes to amend an existing administrative law, which restricts information promoting, what are regarded as non-traditional sexual relations among minors. The new law would pronounce parts of the old legislation obsolete and impose administrative responsibility for LGTB messaging in general. (“New law targeting ‘LGBT propaganda’ introduced in Russia — RT Russia & Former Soviet Union, RT News June 10, 2022)***
The Russian law will, if adopted, invoke serious punishments for such activity. And, the Russians aren’t the only ones who view the homosexual lifestyle as something their societies and cultures don’t need.
Many of the Arab nations, under Islamic law, even have the death penalty for such activity.
While most Americans, and most within Western nations, would not make homosexual activity punishable by death, it is more than obvious what this so-called lifestyle deserves, according to the God who created mankind. Just read the account of the fate of Sodom and Gomorrah to understand His verdict in the matter.
Today we are seeing an ever-increasing tolerance for things we would have never tolerated a decade ago. Yes, LGBTQ and the drag queen and transvestite activities were tolerated and more or less ignored. This is what gave rise to an exponential increase in this activity to the point that their lobby is powerful, even though, like I indicated earlier, these are in the minority.
But today we tolerate things that are just, to my way of thinking, beyond anything that should be accepted by any society. I’m referring to the assaults on the youngest among our children, as indicated by the items represented here.
New York is showering taxpayer funds on a group that sends drag queens into city schools — often without parental knowledge or consent — even as parents in other states protest increasingly aggressive efforts to expose kids to gender-bending performers.
Last month alone, Drag Story Hour NYC — a nonprofit whose outrageously cross-dressed performers interact with kids as young as 3 — earned $46,000 from city contracts for appearances at public schools, street festivals, and libraries, city records show.
Since January, the group has organized 49 drag programs in 34 public elementary, middle, and high schools, it boasted on its website, with appearances in all five boroughs.
“I can’t believe this. I am shocked,” said public school mom and state Assembly candidate Helen Qiu, whose 11-year-old son attends a Manhattan middle school. “I would be furious if he was exposed without my consent. This is not part of the curriculum.”
Since 2018, the group — previously known as Drag Queen Story Hour NYC, before changing its name early this year — has received a total of $207,000 in taxpayer cash…
Cross-dressed performers typically read aloud from a list of books that teach acceptance and inclusion, including children’s classics like “Where the Wild Things Are” and “The Rainbow Fish” — and some that overtly celebrate gender fluidity, like “The Hips on the Drag Queen Go Swish, Swish, Swish.”
But the expansion into city schools has brought new features to the program, its social media posts reveal.
In April, the elaborately coiffed Harmonica Sunbeam wore a slinky gown to meet with kindergarteners at STAR Academy in Manhattan and color pages from “The Dragtivity Book,” which encourages kids to choose their pronouns and invent drag names… Last week, angry Texas parents protested outside a “Drag the Kids to Pride” event — billed as “a family friendly drag show” — at a North Dallas gay bar called Mister Misster, where children tipped drag queens with dollar bills as they shimmied and sashayed. (“Over $200K being spent on drag queen shows at NYC schools, records show by Mary Kay Linge and John Levine, New York Post, June 8, 2022)
Compared with the times in which we find ourselves–like in the times of Lot in Sodom—I guess my much-beloved Jeanie is right. Salem’s Lot wasn’t scary at all.
For the world, this is a very scary time indeed; the worst time in human history, according to Jesus, Himself, is almost upon this generation. Jesus said the conditions of society and culture and time of His coming judgment will be just like when Lot was taken out of Sodom to safety, protecting him and his family from the total destruction that was about to fall upon Sodom and Gomorrah.
For those who are truly Christians the times shouldn’t be scary, but full of great expectation. Instead, the times are a sure signal that we are on the very cusp of being called into Christ’s presence at any moment. We see that promise in Jesus own words.
Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. (John 14:1–3)
To be among those who go to Jesus in this wonderful promise and not be left behind to be part of the lost who suffer through the times like Sodom’s lot, here is the only way:
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (Romans 10:9–10)
…
Sounds like Jeanie needs to pay closer attention to her honorary Dad. LOL.
By the way, Happy Father’s Day, Terry !

When I was a teen, Stephen King was all the rage and I read every one of his books. (Not appropriate reading for that age, or any age IMHO). By the time I was in my mid-20’s I couldn’t do it any longer, ALL of his books terrified me. Now, many members of the younger generations have been inured to horror, because it is so pervasive in mainstream movies, books, games and videos. I believe this is satanic conditioning for what is just around the corner.
In 2019 I visited the Ark Exhibit in Kentucky. There was a well-made video of Noah’s family living in the world just before the flood came. This frightened me too; it depicted a society that was extremely wicked and dangerous to exist within and made a big impression on me. Little did I know that we were, at that moment, entering the final stages of our own pre-flood culture.
Jesus’s words have come to have GREAT meaning when I read them, so if He says just before His return we will be living in a world like Noah’s Day or like Lot in Sodom and Gomorrah, I believe Him and I always reflect on that video. We aren’t as bad as that quite yet, but the groundwork is clearly being laid and wickedness is growing bolder by the day.
Even so, come Lord Jesus, your True Church longs for your appearing!
Maranatha!
Truth and Sense. thank you.
Thank you, Terry, you are always a great comfort to me. I remember being just 13 years old and I went to see the “EXORCIST”, by myself! I recall the day, as it was just so dank and cold. It was spring, but in Milwaukee Wisconsin, it was still cold enough to see my breath. I came out of that theater FRIGHTENED to the core! I was raised Catholic and although we didn’t really “attend” mass any longer, I was reminded of it as I sat and watched the movie. I will NEVER forget the fear that gripped my heart that day. I have always been “God conscience” for as long as I can remember. I always felt God’s presence in my life, but that day, I felt an evil presence trying to invade my heart like I never felt before. It was just 2 short years later that I lost my daddy to a sudden heart attack and that same fear gripped my heart. He taught me about God. He wasn’t what the world would call a “religious” man, but he KNEW God, and I only had him for 15 very short years, but had it not been for my Pa, I don’t think I would have ever been open to the Lord’s call on my life. He represented our heavenly Father here on earth to me, and I look forward to seeing him soon! God bless all of us as we venture through this world of pain, waiting for our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ to step once again into the atmosphere of this earth and come for all those who call on His name! Eternity is just a breath away. MARANANTHA!!!
We are doomed and in position to receive God’s just wrath! There is NO excuse for this! Thank God we receive fresh mercy every moment!
On September 7, 2012 at 2:30 in the morning the Lord woke me to pray over some things and during that time He gave me this: He said that His judgment of America is going to happen and He has sealed it. The winds are blowing and the storm is fast approaching. There are those who do not hear or pay attention. Believers are to be bold and courageous for He is with us. Israel will be isolated but GOD will save her. AMERICA IS DOOMED! Our shelter in this storm of destruction is Jesus. Hide yourselves in the ROCK! Time has run out for those against God! A curtain of destruction has fallen across the world!
Hi Irene, Did the Lord indicate what form judgement would take ? I often wonder when things happen -severe storms, fires or other widespread incidents -if these things are a judgement. After all God allows them to happen. His word says that “He makes his messengers a wind and His servants a flame” but unless He specifically identifies events as such , how can we know? I hear his voice but never has He referred to the subject of judgement . I long to know the ‘nuts and bolts’ of His working more intimately in order to respond to His will. I would hesitate to say that ‘ such and such’ is because they have sinned, even when it seemed apparent beforehand that they had sinned, unless the Lord identified it as such.
I had a strong impression from the Holy Spirit that Thermonuclear war would be part of that judgment.
I believe America has reached a point of no return. God says in His Word (Romans 1:18-28 explains this) that there comes a point in time that rejection of Him will not be tolerated any longer and He sends judgment.
Thanks again Terry, you are spot on.
Happy Father’s Day, God bless you and keep up the great articles. ❤
I have long wrestled with the dilemma posed by homosexuality. It has always been anathema to me. I was unaware of such behaviour as a child, but when I went to secondary school it was talked about, usually in derogatory terms, as seems to be the way of boys. They would use such expressions as insults, although I suspect that many, like me, did not understand what they were talking about, but that did not stop them. It was not until I was a young adult that I learned more but thought the behaviour repulsive and quite unnatural. I also realised that the Bible confirmed those thoughts. I could not understand why men would want to engage in such behaviour, but then later I learned that some women too, behaved in similar ways. However, to me the matter was clear cut. My natural instinct was against it and the Bible condemned it. That was the end of the matter.
As the years went by, it began to figure in the news. It seemed that somehow the homosexuals had gained a ‘voice’ which proclaimed that there were many more of them than was supposed. That seemed to encourage some to ‘come out of the closet’. Then came the complaints that they had been victimised. That caused some people to take a back step. Christians, of course, are supposed to be loving. Others were sometimes more acceptant, or pretended to be. Then the laws changed allowing such behaviour. Then Gay pride came along. They had become organised. Somewhere, somehow, they became the dominant voice and influence in society. Not content with acceptance, they wanted control and got it. Now we who know that nothing has really changed from God’s perspective, are on the back foot, trying to perform a balancing act . We had learned to love the sinner, whilst hating the sin, but that was not enough! The laws have tipped in their favour and our children are being force-fed with trans-gender from the earliest age. No mistaking the times.
We have the Holy Spirit to guide us, but the majority are under the influence of a different spirit, which seeks to destroy everything which God first established. The showdown is coming.

It’s already bad when perverted behavior is legalized and even praised by adults in any society, but when kids are being pulled into this filth, that civilization is at the end of its tenure.
I don’t think God will put up with this sort of thing much longer.
Everything that will fall on this planet during the Tribulation is richly deserved.
Its easier for us to see the wrongs in America because of its size and the extent of the wrongdoings. However I have learned to say to myself “What of us -New Zealand – what are we doing? It seems so much less but proportionately it does seem to be here also or it is on the way. We seldom seem to take the warning and avoid the pitfalls. It is like watching big brother and following in his footsteps. I did learn, however to stop following my big brother eventually and asked myself why he did such things when I knew not to, but he would never listen to me, and I hated seeing him getting into trouble.
You are right.
America’s faults are so visible because of its prominence, but the kind of evil we have here is a real pandemic. Countries which formerly considered themselves Christian seem to have fallen the farthest from God’s standards. This means they also have less excuse and I have no doubt that they will be judged accordingly.
The Bible has presented clear warnings about where such behavior has and always leads and, as you can see, they’ve been mostly ignored by humanity for thousands of years and will inherit the consequences for doing just that.
My sense is that it has already begun, but won’t reach its full impact until after the Rapture when the Holy Spirit’s restraining effect is taken away.
It is as Jesus said to Peter “Never mind about him. You follow me” Finally, we can only do about ourselves, do what we can and pray for the rest. I am still awaiting the promised outpouring of the Holy Spirit , because I believe God. I have no idea what it will be like or how long it will last. We will be given more power and many will turn to the Lord. Someone needs to disciple them. Us. I feel inadequate but God does not ask anyone to do what is beyond their ability. That excites me. I find it better to focus on the Lord although I still have to watch what’s going on. It is amazing, the peace He has already given us when you consider what is going on around us, and He has so much more in store for us. All is not lost by a long chalk.
You know, Harvey, I’ve been thinking: Maybe this outpouring you believe will occur is that which will come to the 144,000 Jews, post-Rapture, in Revelation 7.
After all, the original outpouring in Acts 2 was upon Jews and proselytes, right?
Ed,
You can’t be serious. All flesh means all. What I have seen and experienced, I believe. I test all things. I am saddened by your inability to accept what I say, as if I do not speak the truth. You don’t know me of course, but have you prayed about it , rather than indulging imagination? It dawns on me that you must be a cessationist, who does not believe fully what the Bible says but have been persuaded that the gifts of the Holy Spirit are not for today as is written in scripture. Paul was wasting his time in telling us things that are not so? There seem to be a few so minded among those who follow these postings. I have exercised all of the gifts of the Holy Spirit for decades. The recipients of such ministry have every reason to affirm the truth. How can you remain in darkness when there is light to be enjoyed.
I do not say these things mockingly, although I wonder if you are treating others in such a fashion. I will not add further . Lets just accept that you disagree , although I am sure you will have reason to rejoice when the outpouring comes to pass.
Listen, Harvey, just because I have different opinions than you do is no reason to make presumptions about me, my beliefs, or my character, all right?
Your arrogance does you no credit and, quite frankly, is getting on my nerves.
Ed, This is not arrogance as you so easily label it. I have merely identified the cause of your partial unbelief. I don’t like the lack of restraint which you are now showing. There is no call for it.
Where do you get off judging my beliefs or any one else’s based on your own subjective standards?
Paul said we only see things “darkly” in this life (1 Corinthians 13:12).
I hate to break it to you, Harvey, but that includes YOU, me and all the rest of us poor mortals, your “visions” notwithstanding.
