We’ve covered Jesus’ Olivet Discourse many times. There has been plenty of fodder in it to provide evidence that stage-setting for prophetic fulfillment is ramping up on a timeline of frequency and intensity.
One of our most-looked-at prophecies that involves the Lord speaking on things to come is found in the following:
And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring. (Luke 21:25)
While application has been made to the physical elements involved in this prophecy—the seas and waves of the literal oceans indicating that nature is responding violently to man’s rejection of God—some word studies show that the “seas and waves” in this instance refers to the peoples of the earth.
I believe this could be a dual application. The Lord might well have been speaking of both the literal geophysical condition and the human condition.
However, the prophetic utterance leading into the “seas and waves roaring” statement involves the reference to nations “in distress,” “with perplexity,” seemingly making it more likely to mean that the “seas of people” will be in a high degree of uproar—which is why I use the word “really” in the title of this week’s piece.
People are really in an uproar as of the time of this writing. Europe, in particular, is in upheaval, due to economics and food scarcity brought on by increasingly dictatorial governments.
Following are excerpts that prove Jesus’ words about the “seas and waves roaring” at the end of the age, which is where we almost certainly find ourselves.
For weeks there have been protests by farmers in the Netherlands against their left-wing government’s Great Reset policies, the EU’s “Green Deal,” and the associated forced closure of farms. Their government’s radical ‘climate change’ measures aim to slash emissions in some provinces by 95%. That would mean the end for about 30 percent of the farmers…
Farmers in other nations, Spain, Italy, Poland, Germany, and France, have begun their own protests as the E.U. intensifies its efforts to slash emissions in all member states causing harm to citizens’ livelihoods and the global food supply.
Spain
The Netherlands protests and blockades are already affecting some supermarkets that are running out of food. Moreover, Spain’s farmers have again taken to the streets because of inflation…
Poland
Polish farmers also staged protests in Warsaw, marching in the streets against their government’s destabilizing policies:
Polish farmers also rise up in Warsaw: “That’s enough! We won’t let ourselves be robbed!” They accuse the political class of destabilizing production by raising interest rates, which does not stop inflation: “We workers cannot pay for the crisis created by the politicians!”…
Italian farmers have since joined the mass protests, having had enough of their left-wing government’s climate policies and rising food costs…
In [one] video, a farmer can be heard encouraging others to mobilize and stage their protests in Rome. “We are not slaves; we are farmers!” shouted a farmer from his tractor.
“You should all come along with us! Because under these conditions, we cannot put food on the table anymore! We can’t take it anymore! You should side with us! To Rome! We must go to Rome! Because we can’t take this anymore!”…
Germany
Farmers who learned from the Canadian Freedom truckers are currently blockading the Netherlands- German border with tractors to protest the World Economic Forum’s climate change policies of their government. (“Dutch farmer protest sparked by policy Trudeau wants for Canada,” by Amy Mek, RAIR, Rapture Ready News, July 14, 2022)
Another case of the chaos due to governmental abuse is seen in protests of the people of Sri Lanka.
Bakery shelves were emptied due to ongoing food shortages, according to All Ceylon Bakery Owners’ Association (ACBOA) on Sunday a week ago. The report said that bakery products including bread would be emptied from the shelves in the next two or three days amid severe food shortage in the country.
The severe shortages and the way their government handled the crisis enraged the citizens. They took over the Sri Lankan president’s mansion, some sleeping in the bed of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, who fled the premises.
The people swam in the luxurious pool and invaded all rooms of the palace, according to the report.
Sri Lanka is among the hardest-hit of places suffering food shortages, while the leaders across the world seem to have lost their collective minds as part of the Great Reset being implemented around much of the globe.
Klaus Schwab and the World Economic Forum seem to be the moving force at the center of the stage being set for the Antichrist regime prophesied to rule during the Tribulation.
So, with the seas and waves of humanity really beginning to roar, we should be looking up for our redemption, according to Luke 21:28.
You don’t want to be left behind when the Rapture takes place. The food crisis and every other sort of suffering will bring horrors that Jesus said will make it the worst time of all human history.
Here is how to avoid this coming time of crises and go to be with Christ when He calls.
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (Romans 10:9–10)

What of the signs in the sun and the moon and the stars? There have been a few ‘contrivances’ but nothing now comes to mind of such a significance or am I wrong? I agree about the sea and the waves and that it is both figurative and literal.

I agree with you that there really haven’t been any dramatic signs in the sky so far.
I think the most dramatic of these signs in the heavens will actually come during and at the end of the Tribulation, but we certainly can’t rule out early indications of them even now.
Some present-time possibilities:
Strong solar activity, notably Coronal Mass Ejections which can affect communication and power grids on Earth, and step up auroral activity.
The unexpected appearance of a large comet or supernova.
A refinement of the calculation of the near-Earth asteroid Apophis that raises the odds of it impacting the planet in about eight or nine years or even at a time when the Tribulation is underway (Revelation 8:8-9).
Volcanic activity that can produce unusual-appearing skies.
The James Webb telescope that Dawn mentioned revealing something we have never seen before.
Jesus told us to “Keep looking up” as we await his return.
We can be sure that this advice is something we can take seriously in these Pre-Trib times.
There is very little said on the media about what’s happening with the sun. The sun is going into a quisient period referred to as a Grand Solar Minimum which may last from 30 to 50 years. This period will be characterized by cooler temperatures worldwide, increased volcanic activity, shorter growing seasons, lower agricultural crop yields. In essence, less food available.

I think we are just seeing the beginning of things to come.
I suspect it’ll all really ramp up after this summer and increase greatly as the cold weather comes to the northern hemisphere. I expect Covid-19 to step up (real or contrived), monkey pox and other diseases from the past to show up (polio is already making a reappearance), shortages of all kinds to get worse, particularly with food and energy products), lawlessness, civil unrest, and military conflicts worldwide to increase in response to these stresses..
In response, expect governments around the world to use these things to justify increasing their authority to steal more and more of our liberties and a complacent populace to roll over for it all.
I also believe that all of this just shows us how close our redemption truly is!

I am becoming more and more perplexed with the trusted Prophecy teachers that I have come to know and love and rely on for the truth going in the direction of, dare I say it, PREPPING? Some are even moving in the circles with the “patriots” movement and churches are popping up here and there with that particular name.
Could someone PLEASE address this? Is this a SIGN of the last days and the coming tribulation? Are these brothers losing their “affection” for things above? Are they moving in the direction of again, dare I say, apostacy?
We CANNOT set our affections on the things of this world. I have heard well-known believers claim that Donald Trump is the SAVIOR of America!!! Heaven forbid!! I believe that he is the best “prospect” for the 2024 election, should we still be here at that time, but JESUS CHRIST is my SAVIOR, NOT DONALD TRUMP!
I think there is MUCH confusion beginning to rear its’ ugly head in the body of Christ. If the election of an American President is weighing on the heart and mind of the remnant believer, then we are in true peril of losing our perspective as watchers on the wall! I don’t know what to make of this. Is it a “temporary” insanity? Is it a “sign” of the times? Is it the “workings of the evil one”? Please, if someone could address this here, I would appreciate it. I understand that in the comments section of a wonderful post by our dear brother Terry is not really the appropriate place to discuss this, or is it? God bless and oh my, MARANANTHA!! If we are wise we listen to what others say, but we must not simply accept what they say . We are told to test prophecy. Popularity is not the test. If we do not have the Holy Spirit within us, and it seems to me that many professed Christians do not seem to, we are simply “reading someone else’s mail” which will mean nothing to us. We must stay close to the Lord and wait for His inner witness before we accept anything as truth. Those who are perishing “do so because they do not have the love of the truth”. Reputation is not a sound test. Many are fooled . They follow like sheep. It is hard sometimes but if you are really serious, God will not leave you without a true understanding and you will know that from the inner peace He gives you.
Many are clamouring for the Rapture (I would love it to be tomorrow but I know it will not be. Many disagree with my view (perhaps because they just want ‘out’ , but my view , which is based on scripture (Joel Ch. 2) and personal revelation (and again some do not believe what the Bible teaches plainly in 1 Cor. 12 about the Gifts of the Holy Spirit, yet I and millions of others have tasted for themselves and know the truth thereof , the Rapture will not take place until there has been a final outpouring of the Holy Spirit, perhaps greater than anything which has been experienced in the past. As I said, many disagree, and it is NOT my intention to be contentious here, but to give heart to those who are feeling nervous. I read only yesterday, in a book about Smith Wigglesworth, the famous world evangelist of the early part of the 20th Century, who is said to have walked with God and through whom countless were saved and miraculous healings and other works were performed, and he prophesied that there would be an outpouring of the Holy Spirit before the Rapture , thereby confirming what I have believed because I believe God. He said he only had 3 visions in his lifetime and that was one of them. Obviously these were special visions because it seemed to me that he must have experienced many visons during his ministry.
Again test this and see what the Holy Spirit reveals to you, but do not doubt when you ask.
I bear witness to what you say, Harvey. Many speak of an end-time revival before the Rapture, However, revival often is birthed from hard times. This is evidenced by what Terry wrote about the protests worldwide. We should be ready for both the return of Christ and hard times because Jesus said we would be persecuted for his namesake.
We’ve had it easy in America compared to other parts of the world but the powers that be see us as an obstacle (the Holy Spirit restrainer) until we are removed.
Perhaps this quote from Jesus provides an answer:
Matthew {24:22} And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.
I think this mainly addresses the Tribulation years, but I think the principle is the same for us today.
If I’m right, the time of our own redemption will likely be very soon since you have shown that a number of true Christians today are be falling into focusing on this world instead of the next. If allowed to continue much longer, how many more will likely fall into this trap?
Satan is the master of deception and it’s pretty easy to be taken in, even if one is a believer. Vigilance is the key.

We should be in prayer for these brothers (and sisters), but we should also heed the words of Peter in 2 Peter 3:17 “You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, be on your guard so that you are not carried away by the error of unprincipled men and fall from your own steadfastness,”. This was in reference to DILIGENCE in 3:14-18. I think it applies here. Thank you again.
