Prophecy Line
A Time to Comfort
We’re living in a time of prophetic dichotomy. That is, we’re in a moment very similar to a time Bible prophecy says things will be like when humanity experiences the end of this Age of Grace.
This dichotomy—a significant difference between two things that otherwise should match up—is that things on the economic front seem headed in a positive direction. All the while, things tending toward nuclear war and global cataclysm seem to be surging into the most terrible time of human history.
Despite reports of developing economic collapse and shortages amounting to famine-like conditions, reports to the contrary tell of ports full of shipments and shelves full of products here in America. At the same time, there’s no getting around it: The rumors of war—and war itself—seemingly can’t be avoided. That war would, the experts say, quickly make the leap to the nuclear variety. Life on earth will, if this happens, mean the end of humankind at some point.
Jesus Himself has told of such a scenario. He said if He didn’t return to put an end to the destruction, no “flesh” would “be saved” (Matthew 24:22). The Lord also said people will be buying, selling, marrying, planting, and building when He is next revealed and intervenes into the affairs of wicked humankind. He said it will be business as usual—not all-out nuclear war or world-rending famine—at the moment of that intervention (Luke 17:28–30).
While this president is, I believe, about to be instrumental in producing an economic boom in business like the conditions the cultural immorality-vexed Lot was experiencing in his days in Sodom, at the same time. we seem to be poised for nuclear extinction. We indeed face a genuine dichotomy!
In regard to the building movement toward war, a recent news item adds enlightenment to the predicament:
[British Labour PM Sir Keir] Starmer, Macron, new German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, plus the unelected EU apparatus under Ursula von der Leyen all seem to be avid for war with Russia. They are insane, of course, and not just because their combined militaries are joke. They stirred the pot badly over the weekend, helping Ukraine carry out drone attacks against Russian air defense bases as far afield as Siberia and outside Murmansk, way up north on the Barents Sea. The bold attack was apparently carried out after a year-and-a-half of planning, using tractor-trailer trucks to transport concealed drones in on-board shipping containers deep into Russia. The drones took out Russian aircraft enabled to launch cruise missiles and long-range radar detection planes, all tolled estimated at $7-billion damage. The gambit would have required NATO satellite targeting assistance.
You might recall a week ago, Chancellor Merz declared that Germany gave Ukraine “permission” to carry out long-range strikes into Russia. Smooth move, Friedrich. He is, apparently, unaware that in so-doing he automatically gave Russia permission to strike deep into Germany as well, which Russia has not yet done. Instead, it replied with missile strikes against Odesa, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, and Kyiv, little more than a routine smack-back, but perhaps an ominous prelude to worse in the offing…
Russia wants to conclude this war. Mr. Trump wants to end it, too. Mr. Zelenskyy, maybe not so much, since his fate is only secure as long as the war keeps going and he is not overthrown by his own wing-men.
Neither the US nor the NATO / EU axis will participate in the Istanbul peace talks directly, but you can suppose that Merz, Macron, Starmer, and von der Leyen are looking to stir-the-pot in the background. You might conclude that war is all they’ve got left as summer draws near and each of them face a European population primed to explode at its feckless, noxious, incompetent leadership. I would expect much more fighting in the streets of the European capitals going forward, and falling governments. It could prove hard to put these Humpty-dumpties back together, with years of political chaos following. (“Bedlam Is in The Air,” Tyler Durden, ZeroHedge, authored by James Howard Kunstler, The Widening Gyre, June 2, 2025)
So, it looks as if believers during this Age of Grace (Church Age) are confronted by what would, by the secular world of unregenerate minds, be considered a biblical contradiction. But since God cannot lie, and Jesus Christ is God, there can be no contradiction. There is an answer to the seeming prophetic dichotomy.
The explanation for this seeming division of Bible prophecy—on the one hand, business as usual, and on the other, world-rending catastrophism—is given by Jesus in His “days of Lot” prophecy.
The division—the prophetic dichotomy—is foretold and explained by Jesus in, again, what I believe is the most relevant of all prophecies for this exact moment.
Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed. (Luke 17:28–30)
Here is Jesus’ explanation: “But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.”
The impending, world-rending war—the Sword of Damocles hanging over our heads at present—is on heavenly hold until a certain condition is met. All believers in Jesus Christ—the only righteousness God sees on this fallen planet—must be, as was righteous Lot, removed before all-out war and destruction can begin falling in judgment.
God’s Word—which is Jesus’ Word, because He is the Word (John 1: 1)—tells us, through the Apostle Paul, the truth wrapped up in this moment of removal. They are the words of our Lord when He presented a mystery to His immediate disciples while sitting atop the Mount of Olives:
Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. (John 14:1–3)
The Holy Spirit commissioned the Apostle Paul to reveal that “mystery” Jesus told His immediate disciples that day.
Paul, saying, “Behold, I show you a mystery” (1 Corinthians 15: 5), thus prophesied the following:
For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. (1 Thessalonians 4:16–17)
There can be little doubt in the spiritual hearts and minds of believers who truly study God’s prophetic word and genuinely observe these times in which we live that our removal, our rescue—like Lot’s from Sodom—as Jesus and Paul said, must be at any moment.
Paul’s final word upon describing that Rapture promise was:
Wherefore comfort one another with these words. (1 Thessalonians 4:18)
Let us “look up and lift up our heads, for our redemption draws near” (Luke 21:28). Thus we can find, and offer to others, great comfort in these exciting days of anticipation of Christ’s Words: “Come up here!”
Noah’s day—Today’s Violence
In writing many of these commentaries over the months—and even years—my continuing mantra has been that I believe Jesus’ words about “the days of Lot” found in Luke 17:28–30 constitute the most prominent indication of where this generation stands on God’s prophetic timeline.
Here we have the Creator saying simply and without equivocation that the day when He next catastrophically intervenes into the wicked affairs of humankind will be a mirror image of Lot’s time in Sodom. Jesus will, He said, next be revealed when business is going along as usual.
Just as Jesus removed the only righteous people from that evil city, He will remove the only righteous people at that future time. Destruction of the rebellious people who are left behind will, the Lord said, begin that very day. This is the great event we know as the Rapture of the Church (all believers in Jesus Christ for salvation of their souls).
Just prior to the statement about the days of Lot and Lot being taken to safety from the destruction to come, Jesus said this about a rescue previous to Lot’s:
And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all. (Luke 17:26–27)
That antediluvian world had become so corrupt, both morally and genetically, that God destroyed it all, except for righteous Noah and his family, plus two of all species. Again, Jesus said it will be the same, in the sense that at the time of Rapture, the righteous will be placed in Christ as a type of “Ark” in the clouds above the earth.
We’ve looked many times at the indicators that our days are like they were during the days of Lot in Sodom. The wickedness of today—rapes and murders; sex trafficking; evil perpetrated on children; the murder of little ones in their mothers’ wombs; anti-God evil that goes against God’s order of things, like transsexual activities, homosexuality, and pornography spread by internet across the world—has likely exceeded the evil of Lot’s day.
And God warned Noah of what He was about to do in those days for all the anti-God wickedness He saw on the earth:
The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth. And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth. (Genesis 6:11–13)
The one feature of the evil that seemed to most disgust God in this scriptural description is the violence that had, to the Lord, become intolerable. The following informs of the end-times violence of these evil days in which we live.
Violence is more widespread today than it has been in decades, with armed conflict touching every major region, according to data analyzed by The Telegraph.
Last year, varying levels of conflict were reported across at least 50 different countries, from the civil war in Myanmar to extreme violence between drug cartels in Mexico, according to the Armed Conflict Location & Event Data (ACLED).
Experts predict that the trend will probably continue throughout 2025 and beyond.
Across the 50 countries, there were at least 56 active conflicts—one of the largest quantities since 1946—“with fewer conflicts being resolved, either militarily or through peace agreements,” the Global Peace Index estimated.
“The level of violence happening is certainly at one of its highs since the Second World War ,” said Clionadh Raleigh, the founder and director of ACLED.
The only year to exceed 56 was 2023, which recorded 59 armed conflicts, according to certain estimates.
Armed conflicts are increasing everywhere. (“World most violent it has been in decades. At least 50 different countries have been hit by armed conflict in the past year, researchers find,” The Telegraph, Rapture Ready News, May 25, 2025)
Each and every day, reports come in of violence—much of it of the most heinous sort. All we have to do is remember October 7, 2023, and the savage attacks on the Israeli gathering to understand the incorrigible nature of the violence we’re witnessing.
The evil is incorrigible because the rage is the reprobate, fallen minds of humankind being led by Israel-hating, humanity-hating demonic forces, with Satan directing the violence.
Jesus said that if He did not return at a specific time at Armageddon, no flesh would be saved. Thankfully, He will do just as promised.
Thankfully, too, He will return in the clouds of Glory above this judgment-bound planet to remove all believers to Himself—the Ark of safety—just as He lifted Noah and his family above the destructive waters that fell upon the incorrigible world of that antediluvian time.
Here again is how to be aboard that Blessed Ark just before God’s judgment must fall:
That if you will confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and will believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart man believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (Romans 10:9–10)
Is Sodom on Hiatus?
One senses that the LGBTQ collective is in remission of a sort. But we can be assured it’s only temporary. I think it’s safe to predict that it will soon emerge again in full-flood mode, because Jesus, Himself, said it will be just like it was in the days of Lot in Sodom when the Lord next intervenes catastrophically into the wicked affairs of humankind.
That next intervention will be the Rapture of all believers in Christ into the clouds of Glory—the Rapture of the Church.
Heaven’s reach into our present time seems to me a powerful move to restrain the evil that was raging before the woke wickedness was dealt a setback. The Restrainer, I’m convinced, has that Romans 1:28 reprobate insanity in Psalm chapter 2-type derision.
The homosexual movement grew, seemingly unstoppable, with mainstream media, both news and entertainment, giving full support to each and every demand made by their organization. Any opposition raised against the moral bankruptcy of the LGBTQ movement was considered by mainstream press as not legitimate reason for concern, but rather a hate crime against gays. Time and time again as the Sodom-like movement became more forceful throughout the nation, the rants became ever more vehement in screaming the media pundits’ almost unanimous view: the crime of bigotry against those who are gay.
The journalistic mantra seemed, to me at least, to be aimed at attempting to raise a groundswell of opinion against those who believe God’s Word condemns homosexuality.
Let me state up front that Christians are not supposed to condemn anyone. We are, however, if we truly follow what the Bible teaches, expected to agree totally with the God of Heaven in His condemnation of sin. We, likewise, are to hold fast against any sin that overtly and adversely affects the moral values of the society and culture in which we conduct our lives, raise our children, etc. When morally degrading activity is thrust into our public lives and we are forced to experience that activity’s cesspool-like goings-on—right in front of our and our children’s eyes—we must speak up. We must object to and oppose that sinful activity.
There are numerous scriptural condemnations of homosexuality. They have been put forward so many times that I see no need to list them all. One such edict by the Living God against homosexuality is the following: “If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood [shall be] upon them” (Leviticus 20:13).
For those who might think this condemnation applied only to the time of the Mosaic Law, I remind that the Scriptures teach that God does not change. He continues to view homosexuality as an “abominable” sin. The sin of homosexuality is indeed an abomination. We cannot ignore that it is a growing part of our national and world societies.
There is no vacation, it seems, from its morality-infecting invasiveness.
My now deceased friend and colleague from Ireland, Patrick Heron, once experienced firsthand how wicked and debauched the LGBTQ sort can be. His troubling “holiday,” as they call vacations in Europe, as he reported some years ago, drives home the point that, like in Lot’s day of vexation with the homosexuality of Sodom, there is no holiday from the debased activities of this fallen world.
Myself and Catherine just returned from five days in northern Spain, where my nephew married a Spanish girl. We stayed in Madrid last Saturday night on our way back to Dublin. Madrid was hosting a huge Gay Pride day when we arrived Saturday evening.
Unfortunately, our hotel was right on the main street of Madrid. There were thousands of men women and children lining the Gran Via leading to a huge park, which was packed full. Bus load after bus load of homosexual men and lesbians waved and cheered amid loud music and the crowds that lined the streets waved back.
Men kissing men, women kissing women–and all [were] cheered on by the on-lookers. Transvestites [were] parading boldly down the streets having their pictures taken with couples and their children. Many of the transvestites had red horns on their heads.
One man was painted in rainbow colours all over his body. He walked slowly and deliberately down the center of the street as folks jumped in front of him to take his photo. We saw him from behind and he was naked.
At 11:30 at night, Catherine and I walked up the main street amid the blaring of loud music. The street was filthy dirty, with people drinking and eating, and discarding their litter on the paths. Some people were urinating against the walls in side streets. As we got to the top of the street, there were several hundred people gathered in a big circle. They were banging drums and jumping up and down with their hands in the air shouting, all in unison.
The drums and shouting and jumping went faster and faster until it reached a crescendo and exploded with a huge shout of delight and clapping by the mob.
It looked and sounded like something from Dante’s inferno but felt like a scene directly from Sodom and Gomorrah. Truly, this was a nightmarish atmosphere and a sure indication that we are indeed in a time similar to the days of Noah. There was a similar parade of gays going on in London and other cities at the same time.
The days are getting shorter and the cracks are appearing all over the globe. If there was ever a call to reach out to the unsaved before the Lord comes to take out His Church, it is now. “Lift up your heads. Your redemption is drawing near.”
Patrick has been enjoying the presence of our Lord in eternity for a number of years. And the Sodom and Gomorrah-like evil he reported has only increased. There is a very tenuous lull in the homosexual determination to bring America and the world into configuration exactly as it was in the days of Lot. And the moment of Heaven’s judgment and wrath that are prophetically scheduled must be nearing while God’s divine patience continues to be tried by lost humanity.
Still, the Lord also continues to love the sinner, no matter the sin, and we who name the name of Christ are to love them, too. We cannot truly love our Lord if we hate those He loved so much that He came to die on the cross at Calvary so the ones who believe in Him and turn from their sin can be saved. We are nonetheless to stand against evil that would bring humanity down to the base, cesspool level to which Satan and his minions want to bring mankind. The only remedy that is left when humanity reaches such a level is God’s wrath and judgment. Our nation and world are swiftly approaching the proverbial bottom of the barrel. As my great friend Patrick wrote, when we see the end coming, we are to look up and lift up our heads, for our redemption draws near (Luke 21:28).

Weather and Discernment
Those who write on current issues and events as related to Bible prophecy yet future have, as often as not, been somewhat off the mark. For example, I’ve viewed the weather (the climate changes in the seasons) just as weather, with little prophetic significance; others, however, see weather as, in some cases, pointing directly to prophetic development.
Bill Koenig and John Maturin’s take on the weather as related to treatment of Israel does intrigue me. And others writing and speaking in that vein have occasionally captured my curiosity—like, for example, Hurricane Katrina during the George W. Bush administration and things going on at that time with the treatment of the Jewish state.
That hurricane was indeed an attention-getter, and it remains one of the most violent on record to have hit our nation.
Most writers of this sort have based their regard of the increase of violent weather as a sign of the end times on the following Scripture:
And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. (Luke 21:25–26)
Again, I have, over my many decades on the planet, known of violent weather phenomena—especially since I’ve lived for much of that time here in the mid-South, which is considered on the fringe of Tornado Alley. As a matter of fact, we missed being hit directly by a tornado while living in Jackson, Mississippi, by less than a city block.
So when learning of foul weather, even the sometimes unusual outbreaks across the region or the world, I haven’t been particularly turned toward the “seas and waves roaring” of Luke 21:25 as being a significant indicator of end-times prophecy.
However, learning of the current weather phenomena raging across the nation and world, in conjunction with the other geophysical activity—earthquakes and the like—we are, I believe, experiencing the forewarning in Luke’s account.
Some of the stories of such concurrent, angry weather plaguing diverse regions are listed on Rapture Ready News on May 20:
- Tornado hits St. Louis metro area, leaving 5 dead and causing widespread damage
A destructive tornado struck the St. Louis metropolitan area, Missouri, on May 16, 2025, killing at least five people and injuring dozens, according to city officials. The storm caused significant damage to infrastructure and homes, with over 5 000 properties affected. At least seven storm-related deaths were reported across multiple states on May 16, with some reports mentioning at least 10 fatalities. - First-ever Dust Storm Warning issued for Chicago, visibility drops to near zero across metro area
The first-ever Dust Storm Warning for the Chicago metro area was issued on May 16, 2025, as winds of up to 113 km/h (70 mph) carried dust into the city. The storm reduced visibility to near zero and affected major routes across Chicago and surrounding areas. - Tornado Emergency issued as violent tornado strikes Marion, Illinois
A violent tornado struck south of Marion in Williamson County, Illinois, between 18:00 and 19:00 CDT on May 16, 2025, prompting the U.S. National Weather Service to issue a rare Tornado Emergency for the area. The tornado destroyed homes near Market Road, caused significant structural damage across southern Marion, and formed part of a broader Midwest outbreak that killed at least 16 people. - Violent tornado strikes London, Kentucky, killing at least 9
A violent tornado struck the city of London in Laurel County, Kentucky, at 23:49 LT on May 16, 2025, killing at least nine people and injuring many others. The tornado caused extensive damage along Keavy Road, KY 1006, and Old Whitley Road.
These were but a few storms raging within the US. Tornados are also striking in places around the world where such storms are almost never reported.
My own lack of discernment to this point regarding the “seas and waves roaring” has received enlightenment, it seems.
Jesus, when standing in the midst of them while He walked the streets of Jerusalem, chastised the religious hierarchy for failing to discern the prophetic times. They were looking into the eyes of their Messiah—the King of Israel and the very Son of God. Yet they, with all their training and religiosity, couldn’t discern the matters they were supposed to relay to the people.
It is most interesting, in the context of our commentary here, that the Lord used weather to make His point:
The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and tempting desired him that he would shew them a sign from heaven. He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red. And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowring. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times? (Matthew 16: 1-3)
It seems that lack of discernment regarding the matter of the weather in my case needed adjustment—no, needed correction!
The prophecy regarding the seas and waves roaring, which I’ve mostly considered to mean the sea of humanity in tumult among the nations of the world, it’s obvious to me now, is primarily a geophysical phenomenon that will mark the end times. I continue to believe that, secondarily, the “seas and waves roaring” also refers to humanity in turmoil as the time of Christ’s return nears. It has, I’m of the conviction, a dual meaning.
As with all other prophecies in God’s Word, we must as believers discern the times we’re in with regard to Christ’s Second Coming. The next prophecy is the one from which we in God’s family should take great comfort, as Paul urged:
For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words. (1 Thes 4: 16-18)
Ephesians 6:12 in Session
While at Prophecy Watchers’ studio recently, taping programs for their broadcast and podcast venues, TV hosts Gary Stearman and Mondo Gonzales asked questions relative to the material in my latest book, Tracking Toward Tribulation: And the Any-Moment Intervention by Jesus Christ.
We covered issues and events of these troubled times through the lens of Bible prophecy examined by fifteen different authors. This turned out to be, in my estimation, one of the most comprehensive “compilation” books, as we term this type of book, I’ve been a part of.
When we came to discussing one of my own contributions to the book, the chapter I called “Preparing Antichrist’s Geopolitical Platform,” either Gary or Mondo—can’t remember which—asked what I meant by the title. The questioner wanted to know, as I took it, where in Scripture I had arrived at that title and what all was involved.
The first part of the question was easy. I believe all we see happening in today’s world is driven by God’s chief antagonist, Lucifer. And when it comes to considering the geopolitical turmoil and all attendant to it, we only have to look at one verse to understand the nucleus around which all the problems within and between nation-states come:
“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places” (Ephesians 6:12).
Here, God’s Word—through Paul, the apostle and prophet—gives information about the demonic cabal from which Satan commands all the wickedness—especially involving all the geopolitical conflict. This cabal consists—unwittingly, for the most part—of human minions as well as willing demonic minions.
So my answer to the question was that Ephesians 6:12 is the verse around which I composed this chapter for our book. Satan is the “father of lies,” God’s Word tells us. And we need look no further to understand that the world of national and international relations within governments is burgeoning to the bursting point with lies.
Satan is also the “prince of the power of the air,” we’re told in God’s Word. And the mainstream broadcasts (over the “air”) are the most prolific transmitters of the lies Satan and his minions, both demonic and human, foist upon us daily. The results are that we live on the precipice of World War III.
Certainly, I think the title of this commentary is appropriate because the oppressive evil from that satanic cabal hangs heavily over our everyday lives.
The so-called Deep State is at work within every nation on earth. Even God’s chosen nation, Israel, has a Deep State every bit as wicked as America’s own.
We see it at work against the Benjamin Netanyahu government, which tries to govern in a sensible way in order to keep Israel’s blood-vowed enemies at bay. The Jewish state’s Deep State has been as pernicious as America’s in every way possible, and anyone should be able to see that evil enclave in DC and Tel Aviv at work over the past decade and even longer.
Nowhere is this Ephesians 6:12 human-minion membership more on display than within the United Nations. The evil is so overt that only those whose consciences are seared to the point of being ineffective are completely numbed to U.N. treachery.
The following validates the UN’s Ephesians 6:12 membership, I think:
Danny Danon, the Israeli ambassador to the United Nations, slammed forces in the U.N. Security Council for “facilitating terrorism.”
“While the blood of Israeli representatives is not yet dry on the sidewalk in Washington, the Security Council is meeting to condemn Israel,” he stated. “This is a moral disgrace. Instead of condemning terrorism, it has become a tool serving those who carry it out.”
Algeria published a draft of an anti-Israel resolution “less than 24 hours after the brutal terror attack, in which two employees of the Israeli embassy in Washington were murdered,” Danon stated.
The Security Council will put the resolution to a vote on May 28.
“The draft demands the lifting of restrictions on the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza, the release of prisoners, and a complete withdrawal from Gaza—without mentioning Hamas or the terror attacks waged against Israel on Oct. 7, 2023,” the Israeli mission to the United Nations stated. (“Terror forces at work at UN while blood of Israeli embassy staffers ‘not yet dry,’ Danon says,” JNS staff, May 22, 2025)
In the interview at Prophecy Watchers, I again mentioned that Satan, no doubt, is not in the camp of the pre-Trib Rapture deniers. The devil is in total agreement with those of us who believe Jesus will one day, perhaps much sooner than is thought, call believers to Himself in that glorious event.
The devil knows the Rapture of the Church is about to happen. He has fomented all the evil and wickedness prophesied for these end times. He’s been doing all he possibly can to get the geopolitical, societal/cultural, religious, and economic platform set for placing his horrific dictator—Antichrist—on the Tribulation throne.
The Ephesians 6:12 cabal is indeed in session!
You don’t want to be left behind on this judgment-doomed, rebellious earth when Jesus takes all who have been saved by belief in Jesus’ sacrifice on Calvary for salvation of their souls to Heaven.
Here again is how to go to the eternal safety of Jesus Christ into the clouds of Glory.
“That if you will confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus Christ, and will believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart man believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation” (Romans 10:9-10).

The America-Babylon Speculation
Something I’ve often fought against in my writer’s mind in these commentaries is the matter of being too America-centric. That is, it’s always tempting to bring things involving the United States into articles. I’m most familiar with our nation and its influence on geopolitical and other areas of life upon the planet. So it’s perhaps a sense of familiarity that produces laziness in my research if my guard against such isn’t at full resolution.
However, in this particular piece, it is altogether appropriate to make America the focal point. The reason is that I continue to receive a number of emails from writers who look at developments in which the US is undeniably at the center of critical areas of nation-state interaction.
Of course, the emails I receive are inevitably steeped in and surrounded by questions with Bible prophecy at their center. And with the frenetic pace of developments lately, those messages are, almost as a unified theme, posing the question: Why is America so powerfully observable in geopolitical and geo-economics activity at this late hour of this Age of Grace (Church Age)?
Without exception, these mention the fact that the American president commands full attention in all he does, and now there is, with the death of Pope Francis, a newly elected pontiff—an American.
President Trump seemingly has the magic touch in leading all nations–even antagonist nations like China—to join in working to make the world economy one that will benefit all. This president also leads the way in seeking peace in the Middle East in dealing with Iran and Israel, between Russia and Ukraine, and between India and Pakistan–all areas that present the danger of igniting nuclear conflict.
Pope Leo XIV, who is already ballyhooed as “the American pope,” joins the movement in calling for peace and safety as he demonstratively aims to lead with great vigor from the Vatican, Christendom’s most powerful center from the world’s diplomatic perspective.
Many who watch things develop toward prophetic stage-setting and even fulfillment are speculating as to whether the powerful influence the US is currently exhibiting in the areas of geopolitics, geo-economics, and religion might indicate that America is destined to be the Babylon of Revelation 18.
One of the most-asked questions by those interested in end-times matters is: “Is America in Bible prophecy?” Or, “Why isn’t America, certainly considered the greatest nation to this point in history in terms of wealth and material achievement, not in Bible prophecy?”
The most common answer given by teachers and others who view prophecy from the premillennial, pre-Tribulation, futurist perspective is: “No. America is not found in Bible prophecy.” That has most frequently been my own answer to that basic question. The US isn’t found within the pages of God’s prophetic Word.
I can’t answer for others who deal with biblical eschatology (the study of end things). I can only say that my own meaning within my answer is that the US isn’t mentioned by name anywhere in prophecy.
Whether this most materially blessed nation in history, despite the absence of its name, is or is not somewhere in prophecy is another matter. Regarding that, my thinking has trended in more recent times toward “perhaps.”
Babylon, the city second only to Jerusalem as far as the number of times it’s mentioned in the Bible, is, of course, at the center of most controversy in the question of whether America is implied in Scripture. Is the United States Babylon the Great?
Despite the adamant answers to this query by some of my colleagues and friends on both sides of the America/Babylon matter, I must say they cannot—nor can I—know for certain. Only history playing out can provide the answer. We don’t know the future in detail when speculating upon such peripheral prophetic issues. Such is reserved exclusively for the God of Heaven.
Time’s unfolding, however, always draws things to come into focus so that prophetic detail can be more clearly discerned. It seems to me that recent times have provided ever-increasing magnification, showing America’s possible inclusion within these “end-of-days” prophecies, as the secular world terms them.
I’m not declaring that I think America is Babylon the Great. Like this commentary’s title implies, however, our nation, in many ways, looks more and more like a mirror reflection of that prophesied entity. The speculation therefore is allowable, in my view.
If God’s Word is true—and it is in every respect—there must be a city, nation, and commercial influence of tremendous magnitude during the time of what John was told to call the Apocalypse: the “Revelation of Jesus Christ.”
We must then, if trying to understand whether the present generation is near the time of Christ’s revelation, or Second Coming, ask whether a city-state commercial system as described in Revelation 18 exists.
As a matter of fact, there is indeed such an entity. It is the only one on the scene right now. Far beyond that fact, the one presently on the scene is unlike any other that’s ever existed.
The United States of America is, in terms of human achievement and attainment of every conceivable development of material convenience, the absolute apex of all nations of all of history! This isn’t being boastful of my nation. It’s simply fact that even the most ardent America-hater can’t truthfully deny.
At the same time, as we’ve seen over these closing days of the age, America is the exporter of evil even the likes of Sodom couldn’t claim.
Here are God’s Words, through John while the apostle and prophet was exiled on Patmos. Is there any possibility that these words might fit America the Great?
Let’s look here at the mysterious entity God called “Babylon the Great.” Its total destruction assuredly describes how it will be the apex nation/city/commercial and religious system of human history.
And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, shall bewail her, and lament for her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning, Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.
The merchants of these things, which were made rich by her, shall stand afar off for the fear of her torment, weeping and wailing, And saying, Alas, alas that great city, that was clothed in fine linen, and purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold, and precious stones, and pearls!
For in one hour so great riches is come to naught. And every shipmaster, and all the company in ships, and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood afar off, And cried when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, What city is like unto this great city!
And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas that great city, wherein were made rich all that had ships in the sea by reason of her costliness! for in one hour is she made desolate (Revelation 18:9–10, 15–19).
It’s a frightful and exceedingly sad speculation, to be sure. But we are commanded by our Lord to “watch” (Mark 13:37). Therefore, we must do so in accordance with Christ’s other command:
And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh. (Luke 21:28)
This Most Dangerous Moment
The message I sense that’s the most important to address is that we–humanity—are now on the precipice of history’s most dangerous moment.
It is the most dangerous because of the warning of the very God of all creation. They are the words of Jesus when He walked in human flesh upon the streets and hills in and around Jerusalem. I would get tired of repeating them so many times in these commentaries. But I dare not stop repeating them, because I sense this prophetic message involves what I’m convicted the Holy Spirit wants all of humanity—both the born again and the unsaved—to know.
And it is dangerous particularly to the unsaved—all of humanity who are of the age of understanding (age of accountability) who don’t know Christ for salvation of their souls. It’s also dangerous, in a sense, to the born again (all who know Jesus for salvation), because we’re commanded to “watch” (Mark 13:37) and discern this late hour of the Age of Grace (Church Age). To disregard this command by the Lord is to disobey God.
Again, I’m convicted that the world of humanity is exactly at the time Jesus spoke of in warning of His next catastrophic intervention into this world of advancing wickedness. And the conditions the Lord said will be manifest immediately before He calls the Church into Heaven are nothing like some Bible prophecy pundits who deny the pre-Trib Rapture are presenting.
And, it isn’t my purpose to be disrespectful to the people who are misreading and falsely reporting on what Paul the apostle and even the Lord Jesus prophesied regarding the very end of this Age of Grace. My purpose is to present the truth so Christ’s warning is conveyed by the Holy Spirit to the understanding of humankind.
Those Bible prophecy writers and pundits to whom I refer have taught for years that we are seeing the economy and all else get worse, and that we should prepare to enter history’s worst time–the Tribulation (Daniel’s 70th week). They accuse that Christians have been led astray by those of us who preach, teach, broadcast, and write that Christ will call all believers in the Rapture to Himself and safety before that terrible time of Tribulation begins. Christians, these anti-pre-Trib Rapture proponents declare, therefore won’t recognize Antichrist and won’t be prepared to “endure unto the end” (endure until the Second Advent of Christ at the time of Armageddon).
For the past months, in particular, the pre-Trib Rapture opponents have had us look at economic conditions so dire that we should, they declare, recognize that the world will be swept into unprecedented depression at any moment. They say this is the beginning of the world of humanity going into the prophesied Tribulation. Indeed, things were looking extremely bleak in that regard. All the secular economic gurus agreed that depression is on the way. It cannot be avoided or averted.
My own take has been focused not on what men say, but on what the Lord Jesus Christ said about the end of this age. And, please understand, I have no delusions of grandeur that I’m an Old Testament-type prophet, or even one who has had a “word of knowledge,” as some claim to have. I just read what our Lord says about the end things and believe Him. Therefore, the Holy Spirit directs as I adhere to God’s Holy Word. Any Christian can do the same.
I’ve written that I believe there will be no great economic disaster on a worldwide scale, neither will there be a world-rending nuclear conflict.
The Lord, through His Word and my prayerful consideration thereof, made it known to me that the economy will, at the end of this age, be in a business-as-usual condition rather than in great depression. I’ve written on it probably until folks are tired of reading it: I believe Jesus said it will be business even better than usual at the time He was referring to in Luke 17:28–30.
Here again is that prophecy:
Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed. (Luke 17:28–30)
Again, I believe the Lord was saying here that at the time He next interrupts the affairs of humankind business will be booming, not in a state of depression and calamity. Sodom and Gomorrah, when Lot lived there and served as a city administrator and judge, was the envy of the entire region. Business was booming–while just beneath the surface of civility, the twin cities were probably the most wicked and debauched on earth. Jesus said it will be just like that when He next reveals Himself to humanity. The righteous (represented by Lot) will be removed, then destruction will befall those left behind.
Now we come to the present time on this wicked, debauched planet. Until recently, the economic outlook was bleak–very bleak. Depression and worse looked to be on the cusp of plunging us into both economic disaster and World War III. Wars and rumors thereof were–and remain—in the news.
I believe we’re being shown that God is still in complete control, no matter how bleak things look. Jesus foretold about this very moment just before the world plunges into that abyss the pundits—secular and some Bible-teacher sorts—have predicted for years.
Suddenly we see the world of economy begin to bloom. Remember, I’ve written that I believe Donald John Trump is not a godly man, but he is, I have no doubt, God’s man for this hour.
He is a builder and negotiator like none I can recall, either by observation or by my understanding of human history. I believe we’re about to witness an economic boom.
And even our friends who oppose teaching the pre-Trib Rapture are lightening up a bit, although never coming into the pre-Trib camp.
I offer as evidence these brief prompts from one such writer. The first is found in our Rapture Ready News list for Tuesday May 11, 2025. The second is a couple of days later, May 13, when Trump’s bringing the UK, China, and other nations into talks about trade has begun producing spectacular results in an economic upswing worldwide. Even the previously skeptical Wall Street types are now predicting not gloom and doom, but a boom, if things keep moving ahead under the direction of Mr. Trump.
On May 11, the writer’s take was almost Tribulation gloomy.
Financial Stress Is at an All-Time High for 70 Percent of Americans
When you don’t have enough money to pay the bills, it can make for a lot of sleepless nights. If you are in that position right now, I want you to know that you are definitely not alone. I have heard from so many people that are being absolutely crushed by our ongoing cost of living crisis that seems to have no end in sight. Just about everything has become substantially more expensive over the past five years, and now the global trade war threatens to push prices for foreign-made goods into the stratosphere.
On May 13, after Trump began bringing together top nations to talk trade deals, the writer has lightened his dire presentation–but only to a degree, and with a tone of sarcastic wit.
The Truth about the “Trade Deal” With China
Everybody is so happy right now. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up more than 1,000 points today, the talking heads on television are bubbling over with optimism, and even many of President Trump’s harshest critics are cheering. It warms my heart to see everyone so happy, and so there is part of me that is not inclined to dump rain on everyone’s parade. But I am not going to tell people what they want to hear just to tickle their ears. I have got to tell the truth about the agreement that has just been made with China, and the truth is not all rainbows and lollipops.
I agree with his conclusion in that statement. The truth is not all “rainbows and lollipops.”
It’s certainly not all “rainbows and lollypops” for those who aren’t under the sheltering wing of the Lord Jesus Christ. Those who haven’t accepted Christ’s grace-gift offer of salvation from the wages of sin are at the most dangerous moment of human history.
Jesus said He would next intervene into history catastrophically when conditions are precisely as they are quickly becoming while we watch things unfold hourly. It looks to the world that all is about to make a climb out of certain economic collapse and all-out, worldwide war into a time of peace and prosperity. This is, however, a time exactly like what Jesus described. Rather than a spectacular climb into the stratospherics of peace and prosperity, sudden destruction is about to begin.
The great Dave Hunt wrote masterfully of this time in his book: Peace, Prosperity, and the Coming Holocaust.”
This economic boom and cry for peace and safety–even from the just-elected pope from America in Rome, all means that it is like it was in the days of Lot when he and his daughters (the only righteousness God saw in Sodom and Gomorrah) were removed to safety. Sudden destruction fell following that removal. Jesus said conditions will be exactly like that when He is next revealed, making God’s presence known to the entire world.
Even so, come Lord Jesus!
