Rapture Sooner–or Later?

As anyone knows who reads these commentaries, our website is raptureready.com. The articles are, of course, generated and disseminated from this platform on a daily basis. Our Nearing Midnight section is our weekly platform from which to launch commentary on what we consider the most relevant and vital issues and events of the hour. All opinion pieces are Bible centered, and their overall tenor is to point to how near the midnight hour we are in regard to the occurrence of the Rapture—that glorious moment when Jesus Christ calls all believers to Himself.

The words I hear when talking to believers about the Rapture of the Church is that while they hope it will happen soon, they are afraid it’s way out there in the future. This is a common thread I find in thinking of fellow Christians these days. That’s not to say all are thinking in this direction. Many who come to our website look around at all that is happening and express that they don’t see how the Rapture could be meant for any other generation than ours. They see all collateral cultural and societal prerequisites for that stunning event to occur.

So what is the probability that the Rapture is scheduled in God’s plan for humanity in either a sooner or in a later timeframe? Is there any one signal on the prophetic horizon that might give a clue to answering that question? I believe one area to look at might provide illumination.

Believers and nonbelievers alike are being fed a daily diet of doomsday fodder. COVID-19 more or less suctioned the attention of the world’s populations into its orbit of terror. This, I sense, was done deliberately. That is, it was a deliberately created, worldwide, pathogenic assault specifically designed to bring people under the cloud of gloom and doom. As a matter of fact, documentation being unveiled is beginning to point in that direction, providing proof that it was spawned to control the minds and movements of the earth’s populations.

Added to the pandemic was the intent to radically change cultures and societies through the wokism we’ve all been subject to over these weeks, months, and years. Overall, it’s been an effort to move people’s thinking away from the God of Heaven and toward anti-God thinking. That effort to totally corrupt mankind has been largely successful, and governments of the world have become, as Romans 1:28 tells us, reprobate at every level. That is, our leaders can’t and/or won’t think rationally. Every thought is only on evil continually, it seems.

This is exactly the mindset of the antediluvian world of Genesis 6, the one Jesus said would be prevalent at the moment of His catastrophic intervention into the affairs of mankind. He said it would be “as it was in the days of Noah.”

We see not only the mindset that was anti-God, but violence, that fills the whole earth, exactly as described in Noah’s day. Consider that with the upside-down thinking of the legislators and city councils of the so-called blue states and blue cities, murder rates are up exponentially in some areas. The catch-and-release policies of the blue cities have validated those policies’ wrong-headedness, their insanity. The reprobate thinking of governors, mayors, and legislators are manifest for anyone who cares to see.

America has at least half a population and half a Congress with the same deadly disease—Romans 28-level reprobate thinking. The current president of the United States seems at the apex of present American leadership manifesting upside-down or reprobate thinking. This isn’t just the ranting of some prophecy nut. His wrongheadedness is evident, and his handlers who surround him must closely guard his movements daily, keeping him from press conferences and having him avoid most questions of substance by White House and other reporters.

While wars and rumors of wars ratchet up to the point of threatening to break into World War III, according to some, the American military, led by the present chiefs of staff who advise the president concentrate on creating a culture of woke-ism within the ranks. Some in our military even wear rainbow symbols, indicating their awareness that the transsexual movement is front and center in their midst. The chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff seems all in regarding his support for this LBTQ incursion into the American military. This is, to my thinking, Sodom and Gomorrah-level reprobate manifestations in these days that look forever more like those days of Noah and days of Lot of which Jesus prophesied.

All of the above constitutes substantial evidence that the Rapture of the Church might be close to fulfillment. But one particular symptom of our time stands out significantlyAnd it is much more than just a symptom. It is a growing monster created by evil men and seducers, who deceive and are themselves deceived.  Those greedy creators of the monster have reached the point they can no longer control its voraciousness.

The evil men and seducers to whom I refer are the money powers that be. These are the men (and women) whose only desire, it seems, is to create larger and larger debt among those they force to do their bidding, financially speaking. These globalist, fiscal elitists’ evil, economic shenanigans have brought this generation to a moment I believe Jesus, Himself, was speaking to, regarding His next intervention into this doomed, rebellious world. More about this in due course.

The following excerpt defines the uncontrollable monster, I think.

For years I have been clear that the world is reaching the end of an economic, financial and monetary era which will detrimentally affect the world for probably decades.

It is unequivocal that all currencies will finish the 100+ year fall to ZERO in the next few years. It is also crystal clear that all the asset bubbles – stocks, bonds and property – will implode at the same time leading to a long and deep depression.

We had the warning in 2006-9 but central banks ignored it and just added new worthless debt to existing worthless debt to create worthless debt squared – an obvious recipe for disaster.

So as is often typical for the end of an economic era, the catalyst is totally unexpected and worse than anyone could have forecast…

If a miracle doesn’t stop this war [Russia and Ukraine] very quickly (which is extremely unlikely), the world will soon be entering a hyperinflationary commodity explosion (think energy, metals and food) combined with a cataclysmic deflationary asset implosion (think debt, stocks and property).

The world will be experiencing totally unknown consequences without the ability to solve any of them for a very long time.

All the above will most likely happen even without a global war. (Buckle Up: Greyerz – The Dark Years for the World Are Now Starting in Earnest,  King World News, Rapture Ready News, March 12, 2022)

Prices at the gas pumps and in the grocery stores—the shelves of which are growing increasingly sparse in products—are rising quickly. The above expert analyst and others predict the whole world economic system is about to experience a crash of apocalyptic dimension. If this happens, the world will again have to gather up the shambles and bring things back to a relatively normal way of conducting life. This would take many decades if it could ever be reconfigured in getting things back to how they are at present.

Jesus’ words tell us that when He comes again, people will be in times like in Noah’s day. That is, it will be a totally evil time of violence. Well, we are there at present, are we not?

But the Lord foretold something other. And it is what makes me think the Rapture of believers will be sooner, not later.

Jesus said the generation will be like in the days of Lot and his vexation in Sodom and Gomorrah. That means, of course, that it will be a totally debauched, sexually perverted and wicked time. Are we not there?

But He said one thing more. He said people will be buying, selling, building, marrying, planting—all the things of normal activity. He predicted no worldwide financial collapse. “It’s the economy, stupid,” we might say to those who believe we are going through the Tribulation. (Although I would never use those words issued by James Carville in managing Bill Clinton’s election.)

But it is, in fact, the world economic situation we should look at in wonder. It is still held up in spite of the any second collapse the experts have been predicting for some time.

The collapse is being held up by God, the Restrainer, I have no doubt. It will be the Rapture that will pierce that enormous, constantly building economic bubble.

That moment is indeed imminent!

There is one and only one way to go to Jesus in this glorious event when He calls—the one and only way of escaping the coming time of trouble such as people of the earth have never endured.

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (Romans 10: 9–10)

I don’t know that an explicit reference to an economic collapse would indicate a sooner rather than later rapture. It could be that it is implied in other manifestations such as famine and rationing as with the black horse.

Nonetheless, I believe there are enough indicators that supports a soon coming rapture, particularly the convergence of them all. But particularly, the depth of wickedness in world culture and it has to be getting to the point that the Lord must respond.

The recompense of the wicked is coming but we will be set securely on high when that happens.

  3. Pamela Elliott says:

Terry – Great words of encouragement. I have the same mindset as you concerning the financial collapse? I believe the Holy Spirit is restraining the financial collapse until after the Rapture when all Hell will break loose on this Earth. That is not to say that we Christians will not be affected by some of the food shortages and high inflation? But the real damage and sudden destruction will come after Jesus comes to get his Church. That means that we must be very close to that glorious day – Our Blessed Hope. Come Lord Jesus Come!!!!

  4. Ruth L says:

I have been asking the Lord about the days of Noah and the days of Lot. I don’t know as I’ve gotten much insight yet, but both Enoch and Noah were rescued from the flood, which was a physical judgment sent by the Lord. And Lot and family were rescued before a physical judgment sent by God on Sodom. They weren’t rescued from anything that man did. I guess it depends on whether or not you can view the Rapture as a rescue. But in the case of Noah, Enoch, and Lot, which Jesus compared his coming to, it was a rescue. The question would be if there is going to be a judgment by God from which he is going to rescue his believers, but not the world. (And the Rapture itself could have effects on the world equal to a judgment.) Just food for thought.

    • Ed Wood says:

Actually, Ruth, I think that God rescued Noah and Lot from what man did do – create environments of evil that the only remedy was extermination.

As for Enoch, he was taken by God long before the Flood and we don’t have a lot of details other than he “walked with God.” Could be his society wasn’t all that great, either, but apparently it didn’t rate the total elimination that Noah’s whole world or Lot’s city did.

I do believe that the primary purpose of the Rapture is to save those who have chosen Jesus, flawed as we all are, from the judgments we see detailed with terrifying clarity in Revelation.

I think you are exactly right that the Rapture will not only create such societal chaos in its own right, but the simultaneous departure of the restraining influence of the Holy Spirit will allow the dark spiritual power of Satan and the fallen angels a free hand over the whole planet.

It will literally be hell on Earth!

      • Ruth L says:

Ed, I appreciate what you’re saying. I was referring to the fact that the judgments from which they all were rescued were supernatural judgments directly administered by God.
I know that Enoch died quite a while before the flood in our modern terms (that is, our definition of long in this age).
Given that Enoch gave his son the name Methuselah as a prophecy of the coming flood judgment tells me there is a connection between the flood and Enoch. This is a quote from Jack Kelley:
“In both cases (flood and Sodom and Gomorrah) there are three kinds of people involved. The one that perishes in the judgment (the unbelieving world) the one that’s preserved through the judgment (the Jewish remnant and Noah) and the one that’s taken away before the judgment (the Church and Enoch).”
I know not everyone believes that Enoch was taken because of the flood, but there are others who do.

      • Ed Wood says:

        Now I get it, Ruth!

You are correct in saying that the people rescued were saved from supernatural judgments from God. I just went back one step further to the reason these judgments came – and that was because of the profoundly evil actions of humans. The Bible makes clear that he certainly will again and I think the signs all point to it being soon.

I think I understand your point about Enoch, also, and I think what you suggested is a real possibility.

Here are some numbers (hopefully, I got them all right!) I think you’ll find interesting based on a Bible genealogy chart I found online based on Adam being created in year zero. I used a spreadsheet to run the math:

        Enoch: Born 622 Age 365 Taken 987
        Methuselah: Born 687 Age 969 Died 1656
        Lamech: Born 874 Age 777 Died 1651
        Noah: Born 1056 Age 950 Died 2006

        *Flood: Noah’s birth + 600 years = Year 1656

Enoch was very young compared to his descendants, Lamech died five years before the Flood and Methuselah was still around the same year it happened. I’m hoping that he died a natural death and didn’t have to see his world’s catastrophic ending!

You comment led me to some real interesting research.

  5. EternalOptimist says:

Spot on Terry, I could not agree more with your analysis.

We are in the perfect window of opportunity for the Rapture to take place. Praying it’s very soon and for the lost to turn to Christ before it’s too late.

    Maranatha!

  6. J.T. Prater says:

Amen and amen … looking up in Tennessee

  7. huberrw6559 says:

excellent and such an encouragement Terry, come Lord Jesus!

  8. Ed Wood says:

Will there be hyperinflation in the future? I guarantee it:

Revelation {6:5} And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand. {6:6} And I heard a voice in
the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and [see] thou hurt not the oil and the wine.

If we assume the four horsemen in Revelation 6 are sequential, we have first, the arrival of the Antichrist (white horse and rider), second the red ones which take away peace on the earth, third, the black one mentioned above where it will take all of a day’s wages just to feed a person, and fourth, the pale horse and rider which bring wholesale death.

    But what about now?

I have always maintained that we often get previews of what is up ahead, shadows of future events filtering back in time. Right now we don’t have “the Antichrist,” but we’ve had plenty of prototypes throughout history. We’ve also had plenty of wars and the death toll from them in the 20th Century topped all previous centuries. We’ve seen hyperinflation take down countries more than once and widespread death due to wars, famines, disease, and “ethnic cleansing.”

Added to this are those things Terry mentioned above and that is the preoccupation with evil the human race is taking on with each passing day, a good part of it dealing with perversions so vile that not so long ago would have put people practicing them in jail. I think we’re pretty much at the Noah and Lot society despite the fact that horsemen have yet to ride.

Safe to say that the previews of the coming attractions have been and are being run with increasing frequency before our eyes of the horror show that is coming.

  9. Cindy Appel says:

    Amen brother…prayerfully, sooner than later!

  10. You know, Terry, the monetary systems of the world are the one thing that has me puzzled the most. I am always thinking, ‘how on earth do they NOT implode’? And you have, once again, answered the most perplexing question. I feel so incredibly ignorant at this moment, but also so incredibly blessed that I have brothers in the Lord that have a greater sense of revelation than I do. I have been saved for over 43 years, and I cut my teeth on the book of Revelation back when we had to meet in basements because we were considered “heretics” back then! Thank you, Terry, for bringing clarity to the events of the world through the lens of Scripture. God bless us all at this most difficult time. Maranantha!!

  11. Harvey says:

Terry, Yours is a fair summing up of our situation given events to date. I too, look forward with eagerness to the Rapture, but what of the events which may be to come , which could put a different complexion on this. We do not have a crystal ball and can only interpret what we see – what has happened or what we know is to happen. Prophecy plays an important part. in this. The world rejects that out of hand . Sadly much of the so-called Church also struggles with it – the interpretation of prophetic scriptures and the acceptance of the fact that God still gives to His servants contemporary revelation , which is called the rhema ( or ‘now’ word of God). Because of the latter I believe absolutely in a coming revival before the Rapture .I am not going to attempt to explain more fully or any further, because I cannot prove what I say I know. God is more merciful than many Christians give Him credit, and He is not willing that many, who are undecided or even in out-right denial, should perish.( I have referred to these things in previous postings.) I therefore await God’s timing and the mercy which will see many come to the Lord. He knows who are His!
I do not see this changing the world, in its relentless charge towards destruction, but I do offer hope to some who seriously pray for the salvation of those who are, as yet, lost. I do not know how long this may take but God has us covered in the meantime, even though many fear. I am not that brave myself but I bow to the sovereignty of God readily because He knows everything..

    • chris madder says:

You should know by now that Mr James does not, in any way, support all the heretical doctrines which have come out of NAR (New Apostolic Reformation). He holds the orthodox view that God has not, all of a sudden, raised up ‘new’ apostles and prophets in that we have the perfect Apostle/Prophet in Jesus Christ of Nazareth and we have been told that the scriptures we have are everything we could possibly need to live a life pleasing to God.
I should imagine that Mr James, like many other born-again, Bible-believing, Spirit-filled Christians is doing all he can to reach the lost, we all are. However we prefer to do it with Truth which can be backed up.

  12. TL Farley says:

It is my conviction that we are much closer to Jesus’ Shout than any of us can imagine. Jesus always spoke of the event transpiring in the future as taking place in the ‘present’. As did Paul, who specifically twice proclaimed the statement, ” … while it is called ‘today’ …” The speed with which the rapture is described in I Cor. 15:52, which is clocked at an atomic moment inside of the twinkling of an eye, 11/100th’s of a second, that must trigger on the day that is called ‘today’, reveals there truly is not a ‘moment’ to lose ‘today’ … arguments are hard to find against this perspective with the events steam-rolling through each day we are now experiencing. https://youtu.be/9M2r2I9ePIY

  13. Harvey says:

Chris, I did not know that Mr James shared the same views as you or I would not have bothered to write.
We have never met . You do not know me apart from the few words I have shared. Words intended to offer hope, encouragement and certain truth.
You are a Cessationist. You take what suits out of the Bible and ignore the rest. I am not of the NAR movement as I have said before.
What the coming Revival or outpouring of the Holy Spirit will achieve is SEPARATION. What do you suppose that is all about. The wheat and the chaff! God will not take up carelessly those who merely profess His name but who are not truly born again or are ignorant of what they believe. You do not display the qualities of a Christian brother but it may be that these will be revealed in the outpouring. i.e .there is hope for you yet and equally as important, the many others who have not reached a decision for Christ. There are many whose hidden intentions, even from themselves, will be brought to the light, before the Rapture and not after it.t. God is not careless and knows in advance those who are His.

    • chris madder says:

Go away please I am tired of being informed as to what I am or what I am not. I am a dispensational, pre-trubulational, eschatological Bible-believing, Spirit-filled, born-again Christian. There are many who are well aware of the separation of the wheat and the chaff and when that all occurs. I truly do not care any more whether you think I am misled, deceived, fooled, stupid, an unbeliever or even a satanist. I know who I am and I know Whose I am because of what He tells me in His inerrant word which is so easy to understand my five year old daughter and my four year old son were able to understand and some 40+ years later they are still walking with the Lord and fulfilling His calling on their lives, my daughter as a consultant surgeon and my son as a cyber-security expert and lawyer. Part of the reason for this is because of how their parents were changed by Almighty God ,Father of the Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth when they were very little.
As you continue to push the issue I can only think you are making every effort to appear as though you might be a troll and there is only one thing to do with trolls and that is to thoroughly ignore them, which I will now do. May the Lord Himself lead you into all truth. Note I do not know where you are in your relationship with Him but I do know we all could do with being led into more truth and that is my prayer for you. I will not be responding again because it is obvious you are now into what a lovely Christian pastor friend of mine described as “confirmed foolishness” – I thank God He gave me an inquisitive mind which still yearns to learn more but not from you, thank you.

  14. Beverley Moore says:

This is an excellent article, thank you. Will be passing it on. Another very important reason that I think the Rapture will be sooner rather than later is because Scripture says in Matt.24:34 that this generation shall not pass till all of these things take place. That is the generation that saw Israel re-formed as a nation in 1948. Look up, our redemption draws nigh Luke 21:28

  15. STLloyd says:

I am so grateful for your unchanging position on this, when so many are insisting that the church may endure the collapse. I have never been able to see how anyone can reconcile a global collapse with the marrying, planting, buying and selling. People historically have still done those things in hard financial times, but this isn’t going to be a mere recession or depression. The entire apparatus by which the world does commerce is going to dissolve. Nobody can buy groceries, pay bills, purchase raw materiels for manufacturing, produce medications, run a hospital. No matter what replacement system they have on tap, it can’t be implemented instantaneously. Never in history have we had such a globally interdependent ecemomic system, and never has the entire system imploded. When it does happen, it will plunge the world into global chaos that we can hardly imagine. I believe it will be a major part of the “sudden destruction” that befalls the world, generating a level of fear that will convince people to surrender the final vestages of freedom, and maximizing the chaos out of the midst of which He will catch away His bride.

  16. Ruth L says:

The collapse you describe will probably bring the Antichrist to the fore rather quickly. You used the phrase “out of the midst.” Dr Ken Johnson says that this phrase is an idiom for the Rapture (and I think should have probably been used in the translation of II Thess 2 where it says “taken out of the way.” Rather, taken out of the midst. I just read a quote last night from one of the early church fathers who wrote that the church will be taken out of the midst. (I do think we are going to see a large earthquake in the mid U.S. before the Rapture–New Madrid fault).
