Swimming with Gators

Sometime ago, I considered the title “Swimming with Gators” for a book I was thinking about writing. It would, in my imaginative stage of thoughts, be about politics in America, presented from an end-of-the-age Bible prophecy perspective. The subtitle I had in mind was: “Staying Alive in the DC Swamp.”

I approached a Washington DC insider friend who worked within the US government in a relatively influential position. He liked the title and concept, but didn’t at the time want to co-write that book. So the idea just sort of fizzled, as book ideas do more times than not.

Still, the title continued to effervesce and finally has emerged here as a commentary on the end-times stage-setting going on in our nation and around the world.

I guess Lot, Abraham’s nephew, during the days leading up to God’s judgment on the wicked cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, would say that he was ”vexed.” At least that’s what the Genesis account says about the only righteous man to be found in the cities at the time. The righteous Lot was, the Bible account says, “vexed from day to day” dwelling among that wicked citizenry.

So I hope this article’s title frames to some extent a similar sense of “vexation” for those of us who desire moral uprightness in our cities and our nation. I believe many do sense that we are surrounded by swamp creatures. Much of our government leadership seems to thrive in creating for the rest of us the kind of swamp-like conditions in which they so lustily swim.

Their jaws are lined with row after row of what I view to be anti-American executive orders and legislative and judicial avarice. They afflict our daily lives by taking self-serving bites out of constitutional governance inspired by God—who, our founders acknowledged, gave us inalienable rights.

It seems though that these “gators” we swim with aren’t content to merely deal treacherously with those who are morally upright—particularly with those with Christian values. The DC “swamp,” as it has become known, is determined to, as Barack Obama stated when he was a candidate for president of the United States, “fundamentally transform America.”

His perceived view of America found the nation as a wicked place born of slavery. He set about to change America into a Marxist-socialist model –a type of inculcation under which he was raised. Michelle Obama, the first lady, then told those she was visiting in foreign lands that she was for the first time proud of America –now that her husband was elected to fundamentally change the nation, I presume.

With that transformation underway with a vengeance, the swamp set about to open America’s borders, allowing illegal aliens to flow from every quarter of planet earth –including young men of military-forces age from places in the Middle East and even from Red China. The year just past set all sorts of records in the illegal invasion of our southern borders. I heard a report that there are now more who have entered illegally just within the years of the Biden administration than entered legally through the migration process in more than sixty years. –Perhaps this is the change Mr. Obama envisioned when he made his statement before becoming president.

There are those who applaud this administration’s open-borders policy and who champion a movement to tear down the Statue of Liberty – because, in their view, it represents xenophobia and a symbol of America’s bigoted, racially evil past.

But the even more egregious danger from the swamp creatures in DC I believe is viciously underway by the use of developing surveillance technologies being used in conjunction with judicial, third-world tactics to bring about an Orwellian transformation. The following excerpt of a piece dealing with this, I think, informs further.

“You had to live – did live, from habit that became instinct – in the assumption that every sound you made was overheard, and, except in darkness, every movement scrutinized.” – George Orwell, 1984

Tread cautiously: the fiction of George Orwell has become an operation manual for the omnipresent, modern-day surveillance state.

It’s been 70 years since Orwell – dying, beset by fever and bloody coughing fits, and driven to warn against the rise of a society in which rampant abuse of power and mass manipulation are the norm – depicted the ominous rise of ubiquitous technology, fascism and totalitarianism in 1984.

Who could have predicted that 70 years after Orwell typed the final words to his dystopian novel, “He loved Big Brother,” we would fail to heed his warning and come to love Big Brother.

“To the future or to the past, to a time when thought is free, when men are different from one another and do not live alone – to a time when truth exists and what is done cannot be undone: From the age of uniformity, from the age of solitude, from the age of Big Brother, from the age of doublethink – greetings!”-George Orwell

1984 portrays a global society of total control in which people are not allowed to have thoughts that in any way disagree with the corporate state. There is no personal freedom, and advanced technology has become the driving force behind a surveillance-driven society. Snitches and cameras are everywhere. People are subject to the Thought Police, who deal with anyone guilty of thought crimes. The government, or “Party,” is headed by Big Brother who appears on posters everywhere with the words: “Big Brother is watching you.”

We have arrived, way ahead of schedule, into the dystopian future dreamed up by not only Orwell but also such fiction writers as Aldous Huxley, Margaret Atwood and Philip K. Dick…

What once seemed futuristic no longer occupies the realm of science fiction.

Incredibly, as the various nascent technologies employed and shared by the government and corporations alike—facial recognition, iris scanners, massive databases, behavior prediction software, and so on—are incorporated into a complex, interwoven cyber network aimed at tracking our movements, predicting our thoughts and controlling our behavior, the dystopian visions of past writers is fast becoming our reality…

Surveillance cameras are everywhere. Government agents listen in on our telephone calls and read our emails. Political correctness—a philosophy that discourages diversity—has become a guiding principle of modern society. (“The Omnipresent Surveillance State: Orwell’s 1984 Is No Longer Fiction,” by John Whitehead via The Rutherford Institute June 10, 2019)

We are “swimming with gators” as surely as are our representatives we elect to do just that. But the “gators” in the American government, as those within the WEF, UN, and all within the Ephesians 6:12 cabal of wickedness in high places are about to bite off more than they can chew.

The Lord Jesus Christ is going to at any moment intervene catastrophically, call all believers to Himself, then drain the swamp this world has become.

Here is how to go to Him when He calls believers to Himself.

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (Romans 10: 9–10)

What an excellent, albeit tragic, commentary on the Late Great U.S.A. – my apologies to Hal Lindsay for adapting his Late Great Planet Earth title for my own purposes.

As someone post-70 years of age, I have experienced living through 29% of this country’s history and can recall when America actually stood for ideals that were good and noble. Of course, it was never perfect, but compared to just about everyplace else, it was about the best as far as respecting God and the moral principles he showed us in the Bible. Its very foundation was based on these things.

I watched the deterioration being in the early 1960’s. I remember when we said the Lord’s prayer and pledge of allegiance at the start of every school day. The former disappeared in the middle of 1963 with a reprehensible supreme court decision. Less than five months later, President John F. Kennedy was shot in Dallas. I was in 6th grade and recall being outside on the playground when a teacher came up told us “Mr. Kennedy has been shot.” At first I thought it was the father of an 8th grader whose name was also Kennedy. But then we were told it was the president. I don’t think the timing was at all just “by chance,” but the first indication of God drawing back his protecting hand from a people beginning to reject him.

I remember watching the funeral on TV and even then I know things would never be the same for our country. I was right as the turbulent 60’s played out with more assassinations, an unwinnable war in Nam, and riots in the streets along with the advent of an “anything goes” approach to morality.

This time only was the beginning of the decline, temporarily arrested with Ronald Reagan and Donald Trump. Now, we are in free fall again and, in my opinion, past the point of no return, not only for this country, but for the world.

I am now a stranger in a dark and strange land, looking very much forward to Jesus’ upward call home!

Terry’s analogy of swimming with gators is divinely inspired. What a comfort it is to come to this site and read Truth and be able to share insight into our present-day circumstances. His articles are a beacon of light in this dark world.

One must wonder, was Orwell given a “glimpse” into our current age to so clearly grasp, and perhaps try to warn or prepare us for what we are now living?! Even Orwell couldn’t imagine the very real, self-assembling nanotechnology in mRNA, which it soon seems will be able to redirect our thinking and behaviors to whatever the evildoers want.

As for fundamentally changing the USA, the first time I heard that objective, my blood ran cold. Even in 2007, I knew BO was a very, very bad man and he has more than amply proved my instincts correct. The America we knew is gone.

I was speaking with a sister in Christ on Thursday after our women’s small group meeting. She asked me if I thought anything would get better ‘when Trump wins in November’. Talk about a conversation starter! I explained that it seemed unlikely in the extreme that Trump would take office as the evildoers are far too invested and advanced to allow it. (I recommend Jeff Kinley’s book, The End of America, to better understand what will soon come to our nation.) Of course, God will do whatever He has planned, so we can’t know for certain. Over the past few days, I’ve kind of wondered that if Trump did win this November, how many people the world over would declare that peace and safety are coming back?

Speaking only for myself, we are so far down the road toward The 7-Year Tribulation that I don’t want any delay in what is coming. I’d hate to have to relive the last 4 years, anticipating the Lord’s return if everything was pushed back 10-20 years. More than that, as Pastor JD Farag has so astutely observed, God’s prophecies have a time limit. If much more time passes, the world’s rapid technological advances will surpass the ability for the fulfillment of the prophetic promises to come about in the manner the Lord has revealed to us. (What has developed in just the past 4 years staggers the mind.) And we know that simply can not happen.

We are reaching the point where all of God’s prophecies are overflowing the proverbial cup they are being poured into…meaning we can, and will, be called home at any moment.

Like most of us who read Terry’s articles and who are fighting against extreme spiritual vexation, I am beyond ready.

You are totally right in everything that you said, Robin. The Obama presidency accelerated our decline, which was temporarily halted with Donald Trump. With Joe Biden, Obama’s playlist continues with a vengeance and we are now in free fall. It’s like a worse sequel to what was a very bad movie to start with.

I don’t think Mr. Trump will win in the fall, not only due to his legal distractions, but because I think the number of clear-minded voters in the U.S. has become an endangered and disappearing species, or perhaps the election will be rigged (deja-vu?), or maybe something really bad might happen to Mr. Trump (I pray not!). That’s because I do not put anything past his enemies if they think they are cornered.

Yet, even under the best circumstances, I think we are well beyond the point of anyone turning this country or world around. Of course, the Antichrist will promise this and be welcomed with open arms not only by the secular world, but by the remaining post-Rapture religious institutions.

My own sights are set on the heavenly country Hebrews 11:16), as, I am certain, are yours.

I do not think we have long to wait.

Amen, Ed. Things that have become abundantly clear to most Believers through all of this, which are blessings in abundance: God is REAL, He is firmly on His throne, His word is 100% True, and Jesus is Lord of Lords and King of Kings…and He is coming for us soon!

    • Ed Wood's avatar Ed Wood says:

      Absolutely correct, Robin.

This “Titanic” is going down and most of the passengers don’t even realize it has hit the iceberg so they aren’t even looking for a rescue ship.

Amen to both of you, Ed and Robin. I’m so grateful for Terry’s blog, and for the exchange of fellowship and knowledge here.

I remember reading “1984” sometime in the 1950’s and being stunned at the outrageous imagination of Mr. Orwell. It’s been a frightening journey from those days to today and living through Orwell’s words coming true. Even he didn’t envision – or record if he did – so many other nightmarish events that we’ve had.

I remember attending a – yes, peaceful! – sit down demonstration against the VN war in the ’60’s that got hosed and gassed, and the epiphany that came to me as I ran. Isn’t this still “America”??? And then Kent State, 1970. I fell to my knees watching it unfold on tv, crying and praying, and I knew the answer was NO.

I had grown up in a “Leave it to Beaver” world that had suddenly turned into a satanic nightmare. That was the beginning of my search for why, and Hal Lindsey’s book “Satan is Alive and Well on Planet Earth” was eye-opening for me. “Can this be true”? That started the search for God’s words and hope.

Thank you, Lord for giving us Your words as a warning.

What a downhill ride this has been.

Former hippie, former flower child, former questioning believer full of self-doubt -and former wanderer,

        Thank you, God.
        Bonnie

Amen Bonnie, the Lord is so amazing in His pursuit of us. He never loses a single sheep.

I wonder if we will all share our tales of salvation in Heaven? They are all different, with a common thread…Jesus loves us and God drew us to Him through the Holy Spirit. I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of the stories!

Looking forward to meeting you in the air! Hugs, and prayers.

      • Ed Wood's avatar Ed Wood says:

I, too, read “1984” decades ago and never figured that this particular science fiction story would ever become science fact. I also knew back then that I would never want to live in a society like that and to see it coming to pass is a like living in a terrible dream – like one from which you can’t wake up.

You know, it’s strange that when it comes to points of view back in the day, we were very much opposites. I’ve always been conservative and a “hawk,” even back in the late 60’s. As far as the Vietnam war, what I objected to was the way it was being run and seeing good men and women needlessly killed year after year by not going in there and finishing it up. After all, the U.S. and allies decisively wrapped up an entire World War in 1945, so why weren’t we doing the same on a relatively insignificant tropical peninsula? I think it was more of a case of a lot of people making a lot of money manufacturing arms than worrying about China getting dragged into the mix. Blood money – disgusting!

The second world war demonstrated clearly that evil has to be confronted with an unwavering resolve and totally eliminated or else it comes back, a lesson obviously forgotten by the U.S. ever since. Of course, we can never rid this world of evil and it is winning now in large part not because of its perpetrators, but all those “good people” apathetically sitting back and allowing it to happen It’s the “evil succeeds when good men do nothing” principle. Only the Prince of Peace can and will get rid of evil totally and permanently in the future.

Nevertheless, when it does spring up with the malignancy such as Hitler’s Germany or Hamas today in the Middle East, half measures just won’t get the job done. Israel knows this but the rest of world just doesn’t “get it!” Or maybe it just doesn’t want to.

Now it is very reassuring to me that though you and I came from totally different philosophical viewpoints, we have arrived at a common ground – Jesus and him alone!

I think that is quite remarkable!

Thank you, Robin. Sometimes I’m so full of longing for Home and expectation for the reunion with loved ones and friends I can hardly hold it in. I know God has me in His hands and will not ever let me go. He has proven to me, and so many, many others that His word is True.

May God bless and keep you close to Himself until we meet.

What a joyous meeting we will all have! One more day closer, now.

Amen and THANK YOU for your comments!! We are of the same mind. This world is so evil and I too cannot wait for Jesus to snatch us outta here!! And we shall continue our “work” for the Lord every day until that glorious moment. I read recently that Ed Hindson’s last words were “I had no idea it was so glorious” — wonderful encouragement and my favorite verse 1 Corinthians 2:9-10.
All praise to our Wonderful Father and Lord and Savior Jesus ❤️❤️❤️
