God’s Word Trumps Trump

It appears we are, in a sense, at the end of the cosmic end game. If compared to cards, the winning hand is about to be revealed. And the outcome is not a gamble in any sense.

The One who holds that winning hand cannot lose. He knows every card held by every opponent, and they are all losers. This is because they choose to not accept the hand originally given them, but rather continue determined to play by rules contrary to the One who deals only in truth.

Truth is all that matters in this game, and when deliberately denying the truth, either on purpose or in ignorance, the player suffers loss to one degree or another.

And now I get to the point of this metaphor. I will aim it at the presidential candidate I support in the upcoming presidential election. It is not a gentle comparison I make, because I want Mr. Trump to realize that when it comes to God’s Word, we are not in the hallway of our junior high years. It is a deadly serious matter to deny the truth—and God’s Word is the only truth there is.

In this eternal high-stakes end game, your word, Mr. President, is trumped by the inerrant Word of the one who holds the hand that cannot be overridden.

Your declaration recently is a most egregious misunderstanding of earthly geopolitics from God’s inerrant view.

In his characteristically outspoken manner, Trump has been critical of Jews who support his opponent. At a speech addressing antisemitism Thursday night in Washington D.C., he warned that if Harris enters the White House as president, Israel would be “eradicated.”

“If I don’t win this election, Israel in my opinion will cease to exist within two years, and I believe I’m 100% right,” Trump said. “If I do win, Israel will be safe and secured.”…

Dr. Miriam Adelson, the widow of late casino magnate Sheldon Adelson, [Who leads the way in a large Jews-for-Trump group] spoke in favor of the candidate, saying that Jews have a “sacred duty” to vote for Trump, “in gratitude for everything he has done and trust in everything he will yet do.”…

She has written that Trump “should enjoy sweeping support” among U.S. Jews and Israelis and that Trump deserves a “Book of Trump” in the Bible due to his support for Israel…

She did, however, chide Trump after the event. While noting that his claims had some merit, she added, “Our people have one more secret.”

Adelson quoted from the Passover Haggadah to explain what that secret is, “And this [promise] is what has stood by our ancestors and us; for it was not only one man who rose up to destroy us: in every single generation people rise up to destroy us—but the Holy One, Blessed Be He, saves us from their hands.” (“Trump warns President Harris would “eradicate” Israel but Megadonor corrects him: ‘Jews have a secret’”—Israel365 News)

Donald Trump as president did much to support Israel. He has taken strong and definitive stands against anti-Semitism. For this he no doubt was at least in part brought to that high office by the Lord. But it is obvious from his rhetoric that he is woefully ignorant of the truth in this cosmic end game we’re in the midst of.

This Jewish influencer/supporter has corrected him, although I’ve not seen or heard any evidence of Mr. Trump acknowledging that he was wrong by saying that if he doesn’t win this November, Israel will cease to exist within two years.

Mr. President, I hope someone will pass this along to you. You can’t play junior-high word games when it comes to God’s chosen nation. And I say that as one who is praying that if we reach Election Day, you will be the victor. I pray for your safety, and for ours as a nation.

That God will assure our continued traversing upon this planet is something we can’t know for certain. But the continued existence of the nation Israel is a God-guaranteed matter.

God’s Holy Word trumps your words, Mr. President. Here is that Word, issued from the Holy Spirit-inspired prophet Jeremiah thousands of years ago:

This is what the Lord says, “He who appoints the sun to shine by day, Who decrees the moon and stars to shine by night, Who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar—the Lord Almighty is His Name; Only if these ordinances vanish from My sight,” declares the Lord, “will the descendants of Israel ever cease to be a nation before Me.” (Jeremiah 31:35–36)

The date of posting this article is most poignant as we remember October 7, 2023. Israel’s blood-vowed enemies inflicted the most heinous atrocities against the Jewish people since the time of Hitler’s Holocaust.

This is but one more reminder of just how near the world is to entering the time known as Jacob’s trouble (Jeremiah 30: 7). But even during the time Jesus, Himself, said would be the worst in all of human history, Israel and the Jewish people will, as a chosen remnant, be preserved to go into the millennial reign of the Messiah they rejected two millennia ago.

It will not be Donald J. Trump, or anyone or anything other that will bring them to that glorious head of all nations of history. It will be done by the very Word of the Living God!

If his sons forsake My law, and do not walk in My judgments, if they violate My statues, and do not keep My commandments, then I will visit their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes. But I will not break off My loving kindness from him, nor deal falsely in My faithfulness. My covenant I will not violate, nor will I alter the utterance of My lips. Once I have sworn by My holiness; I will not lie to David. His descendants shall endure forever like the moon, and the witness in the sky is faithful. (Psalm 89:30–37)

yes, you are right, is not a person but the Eternal Good who will save Israel. But it is important to bear in mind that many times the Lord uses men to perform his will. And that happens very often in the biblical history. So, even though he mispoke, we are either with him or against him.

Someone needed to publicly state what you’ve so well outlined for DJT, Terry. I pray that your correction reaches him.

No sane person can support Harris/Walz, be they Believer or unredeemed. But insanity and reprobate minds are running rampant in our world and the vote counters (i.e. Satan and his minions) are those who Trump is actually campaigning against. It is all in God’s sovereign hands.

Trump is clearly God’s chosen instrument for our times. When else, in the course of human history, have so many people around the world prayed for the salvation, safety and wisdom of one man?! Yet God gives him free will to be who he is, still flawed and ignorant at times.

Lamentably, Trump has been anointed as the human solution to the God-problem, which has brought mankind to this point. We know only Jesus can truly save, eternally.

As believing Christians, most of us realize we are in the home stretch. Something (s) are going to shift in a momentous way within the next few weeks. We must remain in prayer, stay close to our fellow brothers and sisters with all encouragement, patience and forgiveness, and keep sharing the joy of the gospel, as we know that today could be the day we come face to face with our Kinsman Savior, the Lord of Armies, and the King of kings, Jesus Christ.

    Maranatha indeed!

I think the upcoming election will trigger major civil unrest here in the States, no matter who wins. Of course, there are many things in play and the Middle East situation is a big variable right now.

We also can’t rule out something coming along which is totally unexpected. A natural disaster, perhaps, or a man-made one.

I, too, agree, Robin, that “something” is definitely approaching. I might even be the Rapture at which everything else will pale to insignificance.

      We’ll just keep looking up!

      • robinlinaz's avatar robinlinaz says:

Yes indeed, the Rapture is the beginning of our eternal joy, and the beginning of sorrows for those left behind.

I don’t wish what is coming upon earth-dwellers, but how people can remain oblivious to God’s supernatural actions at this juncture is bewildering to me. The Bible explains their blindness of course: hard hearts and reprobate minds, but it’s yet another wonder to behold.

Many, many years ago, I had a email exchange with someone who was a Flat-Earther. No kidding, this guy was serious! I went through all the evidence that it is not, such as the projection of the earth’s shadow on the moon is always circular no matter when a lunar eclipse occurs. Only a sphere could do that. Now we also have photographs from space.

I asked him, semi-seriously, why no one has ever seen the earth’s edge or fallen off of it. What keeps the oceans from doing so?

He didn’t answer any of these questions, but still maintained his view.

This is just like people who refuse to accept the evidence that the Bible is reliable.

It is kind of a “Don’t confuse me with the facts!” thing.

I see exactly the same mentality with all the scoffers today, Robin.

I had a conversation with a lovely young lady at my church who is a staunch flat-earther. She follows a heretical “Christian” couple who has become famous for their podcasts promoting the flat-earth theory. It was hard not to laugh out loud when she, in all seriousness, told me I’m the one who is misinformed. (As if there aren’t enough deceptions to combate in our world today.) After sharing with her the biblical verse that clearly state the earth is a sphere (she said that a sphere can be a disc…sigh), I pointed out this wasn’t a salvific issue and didn’t want to discuss it any longer as it was becoming divisive. People will believe whatever they want to believe.

Denying the existence of God and His creation IS a salvific issue. But the Bible clearly tells us that people reject Him simply because they love this world and their sins above all else. There is nothing more dangerous than claiming the Bible has errors, which undergirds the claim that the Bible isn’t the complete and final word of God, which leads to believing that everyone will go to some type of Heaven…or that those who don’t will simply be wiped out of existence, which leads to promoting that morality is relative to each individual, and ultimately claiming that God doesn’t exist. It’s a predictable downhill slope.

I once was lost like that, and I can see how my thought processes stair-stepped me down into a Universalism, “Love Wins” kind of theology. Which is equally as bad as being an atheist. But Jesus left the 99 and faithfully came after me. So, while I can understand and recall how the justification of sinful thinking and living takes place, I turn back to the truth in Romans 3:10-17

10-as it is written:“None is righteous, no, not one;11-no one understands; no one seeks for God.12-All have turned aside; together they have become worthless;no one does good, not even one.”13-“Their throat is an open grave;they use their tongues to deceive.”“The venom of asps is under their lips.”14-“Their mouth is full of curses and bitterness.”15-“Their feet are swift to shed blood;16-in their paths are ruin and misery,17-and the way of peace they have not known.”18-“There is no fear of God before their eyes.”

Every day I praise the Lord that He saved a wretch like me. I am so undeserving, yet He greatly and eternally loved me first.

Needless to say, Robin, I am really glad that not only did God find you wandering in the hills but that you didn’t run away when he came to gather you up.

The stubborn sheep would rather keep doing his or her own thing and end up being lost forever in the wilderness while the other realizes that allowing itself to be rescued and taken back into the fold is so much better. After all, if the shepherd is 6 feet tall, he certainly has a much broader visual perspective than a sheep whose own eyes are only about 2 feet or so above the ground. That means he can spot danger much farther away.

And, there is that bipedal stance and opposable-thumb thing which gives the shepherd a much better capability to defend his flock from dangers, too!

Repentance is, first of all, recognizing just how limited our own capabilities are and deciding that, yeah, our Father really does know best!

      • robinlinaz's avatar robinlinaz says:

Ha ha Ed, your comment makes me smile. And thank you for your ever present encouragement!

I often think about how much like sheep we truly are. There is a meme that shows a man pulling a hopelessly stuck sheep out of a narrow irrigation ditch. The sheep struggles and fights until it is finally released, and once free, goes bounding off. Not 20 feet later that sheep lands squarely back into the ditch, just as stuck as before.

Yesterday, God beautifully solved a problem-of my own making-that I have been wrestling with and praying over for several months. In His timing, He completely and perfectly resolved the issue, far above and beyond what I could have orchestrated for myself. This is not a one-off.

He shepherds me again and again. Even though I am redeemed, I am still that sheep. His love and patience are an ongoing marvel in my life; He is a Good Father and I see Him working on my behalf in the big things and small things, every day.

How sad for those who never learn that all we could ever need in this life are found only at the foot of the cross.

      • Ed Wood's avatar Ed Wood says:

Glad you liked the opposable-thumb, higher-stance reference, Robin. Of course, there is also the fact that God’s intelligence is so much above ours as well, even more than the shepherd’s is above the sheep.

This is where the humanists make their biggest mistake. In their view, there is no God and that makes them the sharpest pencils in the box. If that were true, we are all obviously in serious trouble. Just listen to the “Wokesters” and you’ll see what I mean.

I, too, have lost count of the many times God saved me out of a situation, some of which were also of my own creation. I wonder how many times God must have stepped in to stop dangers I didn’t even know were headed my way?

I expect it goes way beyond that. How many times has God kept the entire Earth from some cosmic event that would have wiped out all life down here and made it impossible for it ever to have gotten restarted?

These are just a couple of the questions I’ll ask Jesus about when I finally get to see him face to face – but, feel free to get ahead of me in the line!

        There’ll be PLENTY of time!

      • robinlinaz's avatar robinlinaz says:

We think alike, that’s for sure.

And if you are looking for me in Heaven, in my spare time I will most likely be found hanging out with Noah, Job or Daniel…or Isaiah and Jeremiah. This sounds like foolish talk to those who don’t believe. But we know what is coming our way and it is G L O R I O U S!!!

      • Ed Wood's avatar Ed Wood says:

After we come back for the Millennium, I’d like to take some time to walk on the surfaces of other planets. I’ll start with the Solar System and move out to the stars next.

Before that happens, I’d like to talk to those O.T. prophets and leaders myself, after asking Jesus a lot of questions about . . . well, EVERYTHING! There are some of his parables I still don’t get, so I’ll include them, too.

I have a hunch we will continue to explore and learn new things forever on a level we can’t even begin to comprehend now.

        Can’t wait to get started!

I’m thinking that, at least he meant to say, that they will TRY to eradicate them. That’s their goal.

Nebuchadnezzar thought he was in charge in ancient Babylon. He had been given evidence repeatedly through Daniel that there was indeed a God who was in control of everything. He either forgot got this or just chose to.

Either way, he got a major education when he attributed Babylon’s greatness exclusively due to his own efforts and got a harsh seven-year refresher course (Daniel 4). I’d like to think he finally got the message and is now in God’s Presence.

I am hoping that, in the days to come, Donald Trump will come to the knowledge that only God is in control. That he was saved from two assassination attempts I am sure got his attention.

Lest we be too critical of him, let’s reflect how long did it take any of us to figure it out and, even so, how many times so we still try to second-guess God?

Well, hopefully most of you don’t, but, unfortunately, I still do from time to time – even after 72 years!

Very, very good! You plan to vote for Trump but you firmly and kindly reminded (awakened?) him that Israel will always exist. Sort of like a minister said last week: “America may not win in the end, but the remnant Christians will . . . and so will Israel. So, if you do not support Israel, then, you better not stand in front of a window or door because God WILL take care of His people!”

This kind of idolatry no doubt made the Israelis more vulnerable to an attack by their enemies because they had pushed the hand of God’s protection aside.

        Ed,

Thanks for the reply and I do agree with your statement. God does not change we can have full confidence in that. Israel is not just waging a war on seven fronts they are waging a war against themselves as well. It has returned to Jacob wrestling with God in the wilderness! It is God that will prevail and truly Jacob (Israel) will be blessed indeed. Israel must go out and meet the Lord God, they must seek after Him and the Lord God will come near.
