Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s reelection bid Tuesday September 17 has definite prophetic overtones, I think. The election is still not confirmed one way or the other as of this writing. But we will offer the following thoughts nonetheless.
Like in the case of Donald J. Trump’s political turmoil in the US, Netanyahu’s whirlpool of opposition that seeks to destroy him is a struggle against wicked powers and principalities to be sure. The ongoing storm involving both leaders continues to focus the attention of the prophetic observer upon end-times stage setting.
The Israeli prime minister, prior to Tuesday’s election, questioned just who the Israeli people wanted to trust to negotiate with in trying to work out a peace deal. Did they prefer to work with Trump and his effort at peace, or with those of Netanyahu’s opposition?
The prime minister reminded how he, Netanyahu, had helped convince President Trump to declare Jerusalem Israel’s capital. He had, he also reminded, convinced Mr. Trump to move the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
Additionally, he announced that, if reelected and upon forming an effective coalition government, he would annex the Jordanian Valley and the northern reaches of the Dead Sea for Israel–a thing that would help to consolidate stronger defensive buffer zones from attacks from the Jewish state’s surrounding enemies.
Netanyahu further sought to provide proof of his close working relationship–even friendship—with the American president. He said that he told the US administration of his plans to annex the Jordan valley well before making the announcement publicly. He said “someone in the White House” had said off the record that “Netanyahu’s plan does not impinge on Trump’s.”
The prime minister said further, “That’s saying a lot.” He went on to express the vast differences in dealing with the current US president as opposed to the previous.
“For over eight years,” Netanyahu said, “I blocked the attempt to push us into the ’67 borders, to uproot settlements. Then, in the last three years, I’m changing the course of Jewish history by getting recognition for settlement, for the borders.”
He declared that he had “persuaded Trump to recognize Jerusalem as our capital, move the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem, recognize our sovereignty in the Golan, get out of the horrible Iran deal—that Gantz and Lapid [political opponents] supported—and now I’m doing the same thing [not only] vis a vis the Jordan Valley, but also all the settlements inside and outside the blocs. This is crucial.”
Immediately upon his declaration of his intention to annex certain swaths of the Jordanian Valley, the Palestinian leadership complained that this action will assure hostilities for the next hundred years. Leaders of both Russia and of Turkey joined in the rant against Netanyahu’s planned action.
For many years I and others who observe political movement within the Middle East–Israel in particular–have been curious about the entity called Jordan. Most who study the end-times alignment of nations look with interest at the following prophecy: “He shall enter also into the glorious land, and many countries shall be overthrown: but these shall escape out of his hand, even Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon” (Daniel 11:41).
The “he” in this prophecy is reference to the Antichrist, who will run rampant over the nations of the Middle East at the height of his power. It is fascinating to consider that present-day Jordan is carved from the territory called Moab in the prophecy. The children of Ammon, of course, are, in modern terms, the people of Jordan.
There are two nations among Israel’s antagonists not mentioned in the Gog-Magog coalition that will storm southward to destroy Israel and take “great spoil.” These countries are Egypt and Jordan.
These are the only Arab-Muslim nations in the region who have officially made peace with the much-hated Israel. While it is not yet clear what Netanyahu’s intention to annex these buffer lands mean in the overall scheme of stage-setting for fulfilled prophecy, we must consider developments with piqued focus.
A number of prophetic passages in the Bible foretell that both Egypt and Jordan (Moab and the children of Ammon) will fare well during Christ’s millennial reign. Of course, the people who come out of these regions to inherit that thousand years of a magnificently restored planet earth will be a remnant. These will be believers in Christ for salvation who survive the terrible time of Antichrist rule and of the judgments of the Tribulation era.
However, the prophecy above and others seem to indicate that people, particularly in the area of present-day Jordan, will avoid Antichrist’s devastation for the most part. Jesus said to each who call Him Lord: “What I say unto one, I say to all, watch” (Mark 13: 37).
As our new book Discerners: Analyzing Converging Prophetic Signs For the End Of Days lays out for believers in these closing days of the age, it is time to seek understanding of the strange things going on all around us. The Holy Spirit will make the madness of it all discernible, if we but seek to know about the signs of the times.
But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned (1 Corinthians 2:14 ).
Spot on Brother James. I really needed to read your encouraging words today. I am so extremely upset with the 16 year old Greta Thunberg spoke today. From my understanding of scripture, seeing and listening to her speech was conformation to me that America is under God’s wrath. When God judged Judah in the OT, scripture says the following: Isa 3:12 “As for my people, CHILDREN are their oppressors, and WOMEN rule over them. O my people, they that lead thee cause thee to ERR and DESTROY the way of thy paths”. It’s no secret that women voters decide elections now. In addition, godless liberals are looking to children for advice. It’s painful to watch. Your words keep me encouraged Brother James. Maranatha Lord Jesus!!! PS: I encourage everyone to listen to Greta Thunberg’s speech today. I won’t post the link. This is Brother James website. For my money, it was straight from the mouth of Lucifer. I will give her the benefit of the doubt. She is an unwitting participate of Satan’s Globalist One World Govt and Religion and thus his useful idiot minion.
I just watched it on YouTube, Glenn, and I couldn’t agree more. It was viciously satanic. Now I see why the Pope loves her so much. Chilling!
I have read it and I have heard other things she has said. I agree with you and I had not thought of this verse before. Thank you for bringing it to my attention. As I read it I thought about the leaders of Congress who are most vocal, the foursome of Muslims/socialists who spout nonsense and hatred for our country, Nancy Pelosi in charge of the House and Diane Feinstein. Kamala Harris and Elizabeth Warren in the Senate. There are others but these seem to be leaders of the insanity we see growing in our nation… the push for more and more abortions, climate control (only God controls the weather and the climate), the push for gay rights, etc. Straight from Lucifer/Satan. We are in the Last Days.
Thank you Hope and Dawn for your words. I firmly believe that verse is what we are seeing now in America. I get the same comments you all say when I show them this verse. They always say, “I wasn’t aware of that being in the Bible”. I was made aware of it by an elderly woman in my church (I was 32 years old at the time). She was the strongest woman I ever met. In honor of the Lord, she submitted herself to her husband (she admitted she wanted to run everything) and she knew how some women can be very controlling. Men love women. Men make decisions (lots of bad ones for sure) with logic while women make decisions based on feelings. Can you imagine Elizabeth Warren being commander-in-chief and taking on Russia, China, Islamic Foreign Leaders, etc. They would laugh. Warren could never make the hard decisions needed to deal with the possible necessity of going to war (Ecc_3:8 A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace) and are more easily deceived. This is not meant to be demeaning to women in any way. Men and women are wired differently. I think one of the biggest reasons for feminist godlessness has at their core their TOTAL rejection of Eph 5:22-23: “Wives, be in subjection unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, being himself the saviour of the body”. Ask Hillary Clinton (a professing Christian by the way), if she agrees that that is God’s ordained roles in marriage? I also believer women in combat is pure insanity. This is just to prove they can do anything a man can do? Movies are now made of Super Women who can defeat men in a fight. What happens if they are captured by the enemy. They would be raped. This could possibly cause the US to start a war. What kind of father would encourage his daughter to become a Navy Seal or an infantry person. The female senator from Hawaii on national TV (surrounded by male Democratic sissies) told men everywhere that were defending Kavanaugh to “just shut up”. I learned a long time ago you can figure out who is “running things” when you find out who you are not allowed to criticize. I’m sure my comments will outrage the feminists out there (many of them in our churches now). Sorry, but that’s what I see happening.
Thank you.
I believe that the Bible (Isaiah 16:1-5) indicates that Jews will find refuge from the Antichrist in Petra (Sela) – which just happens to be in present-day Jordan. Could this mean that these two nations actually become friends, willing to help each other out when the situation becomes desperate during the Tribulation?
I’d certainly welcome some comments on this possibility.
Thank you for your timely words. There are days after being bombarded with the craziness of the world that I feel despair, but when I pray I can feel the hand of God in it all. Soon and very soon we are going to see the Lord.
